Vanity: Anyone seen Oliver Stone's "W" preview?
Posted on 09/23/2008 11:34:01 AM PDT by AUJenn
Just...wow. I just saw a commercial for this horrid-looking flick. Is this supposed to be a comedy or a satire? Surely it is not a serious film. The acting looks horrendous - like some kind of low-rent high school production. What is the scoop on this deal?

Who in the world would finance any more of Stone’s box office bombs? Perhaps he is fleecing the funds from the Little Sisters of Charity, a la Air America.
The man is a poster boy for BDS.
To: Hillarys Gate Cult
You would think that after the total BOMBS like Rendition, Valley of Elah, and the other dozens of anti-Bush, anti-military films that lasted about 2 weeks at the theater, someone would get a clue. Who pays to see this crap?

Actor Ron Silver, a self described liberal who was mugged by 9/11, was interviewed about this very thing. He said movies aren't made to get high box office anymore. Now all of the money is in DVD and foreign release so movies don't have to be good anymore.

eventually all the movies coming out of Hollywood’s politically left genre are going to lose money such that financing will just dry up — because they can’t draw crowds

I did catch it and it was worse than I'd expected. The first promo features scenes of Bush drinking, carousing, dancing on bars, getting arrested and driving under the influence. I think there's another one out now, but I couldn't find it online yet.
Apart from the politics, Oliver Stone has a trashy, excessive streak and it certainly showed in the previews. It also comes out in unwatchable movies like Natural Born Killers.

So? He freely admits that he did that stuff before he saw the light and started acting like a grownup.

I saw a previews before Burn After Reading. Was impressed with how well the actor got W’s accent. Other than that seemed boring and stupid. There were a lot of highly political movies in that block of previews, and they all looked boring and stupid.

Oliver Stoned has had his own bouts with drug abuse and drunk driving. His audience should know that the pothead is calling the kettle black.

GW Bush acts like an adult now. What’s Oliver Stoned’s excuse?

I just watched Ahmadinutjob's U.N. speech.
That was my entertainment for the evening.
I kept laughing and then reminding myself..."Oh, wait...he's serious."
