An American Carol fraud investigation (were ticket buyers disenfranchised?)
An American Carol website ^ | Oct 2008 | no byline

Posted on 10/06/2008 8:34:45 PM PDT by weegee

We have had heard from numerous people across the country that there has been some ticket fraud when buying a ticket for An American Carol this past weekend. Please check your ticket. If you were in fact one of those people that were "mistakenly" sold a ticket for another movie please fill out the form below. Hold on to your ticket so we can have proof.

If you have noticed other irregularities with the theatres in your area please let us know in the comment section below. For instance, Rated R film rating (when in fact we are rated PG-13), posters not being up, not being listed on the marquee, image or focus problems, sound issues, etc.

Please email us a picture of your ticket stub to fraud@americancarol.com

We are investigating.

I went to an 8:40 pm showing Sat. night.

The theatre holds about 120 persons.....there were no more than 12 people inside.

3/4 through 2 people walked out.

I thought the movie had multiple funny parts but was, similiar to most of the lefty movies, was trying to hard to prove it’s point and became “preachy.”

I did not feel cheated out of my 10 bucks though.

I saw the last show at a popular theater at 9:40 PM on Saturday night. 7 other people came to the film. It wasn’t very funny. I only chuckled a few times and I like the Naked Gun movies and Airplane. I was certain I would love this film but most of the funny lines I saw on the TV ads. It’s a bad film.

No, they're trying to keep the box office receipts low for American Carol the papers.

Here's the deal, though. They could print American Carol on the ticket, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was recorded on the computers as An American Carol, right? Could they be doing that? Actually, I saw it on Fri. night at 6:30, full price, and there were quite a few people there, for a 6:30 show and it wasn't even at matinee prices. I was a little surprized that it came in at #9.

I believe it is not disenfranchisement, but perhaps fraud against the distributors or producers of the movie.

Yes they would. They have done it with “Path To 9/11”. The documentary “Blocking The Path To 9/11” is revealing the fraud from within Disney/ABC about not re-airing or releasing that movie on DVD even 2 years after it was aired initially as a mini-series on ABC.

Just got in the door, back from seeing the movie. Didn’t keep the stubs. Really enjoyed the movie, though.

Not stopping them from seeing the movie, but registering their $$ for another movie.

They are trying to keep the American Carol take down so it looks like a bust.

The theaters could be “shorting” the moviemaker to keep down the count for purposes of not paying and to keep count low as to popularity. But it’s probably the money.

didn’t happen here in nw austin...our tickets clearly said “american carol” and pg-13

we live in a really conservative area though, so I wouldn’t expect them to pull something like that here...

I didn’t bother to read what our tickets said but husband did say that he had been told over the phone that it was $5 admission only to be charged $6 each when we got there.

I didn’t care about the extra dollar till now. Now I wonder what movie we really paid for and what movie got to count us as their viewers.

I saw the movie right in the belly of the beast (San Francisco). I still have the stubs and they clearly show “An American Carol”. I was at a mega-huge complex “The Metreon” so it’s doubtful such a fraud would occur at a place of this size, perhaps some of the smaller theaters.

I saw AAC Mon night. There were 8 people in the theatre at the 7:40 showing. My stub reflects the correct info.

I liked the movie. It’s not great, but there are some good lines but they don’t come quite fast enough. I won’t ruin any. It’s rather short, less than 80 minutes w/o credits. There is a 20-second clip after the credits run, but no loss if you don’t want to hang around.

They do the same tricks in bookstores when conservative books come out.

We saw it last night - there were 10 -14 people in that particular theater.

The night before we had gone to see "Fireproof". That theater was pretty full and last night it the attendance seemed larger - so I think that film is doing well.

It is both. Conservatives wanted to “vote” with their dollars, an effort in the culture war with Hollywood.

It would also be fraud which is why the distributor is interested in hearing if there is much merit to the internet chatter.

Clearly someone at the theater chains did not mean to “block” the film, they booked it. Just like stores have books by conservative authors ordered. But there are times where lower level employees take it upon themselves to “strike back”. Whethere that is an assistant manager making a decision to leave all copies of a book in the stock room or someone else moving the title to “fiction”.

The theater sends most of the money back to the film studios. They make their money on popcorn and soda. They DO want to honor their agreement. But in the end if you are charged for a ticket for the Chiuhauha movie, they aren’t going to be as concerned as if you snuck in altogether.

They also know that some people may buy tickets for one movie but see another if they are “boycotting” a studio or personality. That is also fraud (especially in the bookkeeping). It is not fraud committed by the theater, however.

And then there are the people who buy a ticket for one movie, watch 10 minutes of it, bail, and walk into some other theater.

I saw the link on another thread and wanted to give it proper airing for those who may have such a claim to make.

I haven’t seen the film yet. I planned to. Maybe I’ll see it this week. I don’t get my hopes up for many movies. I watch most of the “new” films on Netflix (and not that many major releases at that).

No tv either so I guess I haven’t had the jokes ruined for me. I was surprised at liking much of Team America. But I didn’t catch that one until DVD either.

I tried to record it off air when it broadcast but a Bush speech delayed the second half.

I believe that in most if not all states such activity would be criminal fraud and depending upon the amount of money fraudulently sent to other production companies, could net the perps a lengthy stretch in jail.

Thanks for the explanations I understand. Sigh. It’s both sad and frightening what the Left will do. But considering their obsession with the non-existent “level playing field” I suppose it’s not surprising they’d cheat anywhere, anytime, for anything.

I saw the movie at the AMC Easton Town Center 30 in Columbus, Ohio - one of the largest (if not the largest) multi-plexes in the area. I asked for a ticket to “An American Carol,” at the box office, but was instead given one to “Miracle at St. Anna.” I noticed it immediately and got it replaced by the correct ticket.

I understand what is going on on the theatres and Hollywood in general.

Nevertheless, I am opposed to bastardization of the language no matter who's doing it.

My ticket was correct. And on Saturday night, there were less than 25 people in a room that could hold a couple hundred.

As for the acting, the plot and the script?

IT SUCKED !

Truly.

I mean people still quote Airplane 20 years later.

This won’t even be an Astrix 20 years from now.

One of the worst lamest saddest movies I have seen in all my life.

A waste of money.

With “conservatives” making movies this bad it is no wonder we’re getting our arses handed to us in Hollywood.

No, they are giving them a ticket to another movie, but letting them see AAC. That way, the other movie gets the royalties and the box-office numbers.
