I have an M1 Garand for that,
but it's long, and it's heavy.

Load it with an issue steel jacket round and it’ll drill a telephone pole.

I’m bitterly clinging to my NM Garand. Managed to buy a bunch of Lake City 30.06 black tip a while back - that and a few thousand rounds of regular ball add up to a very bad day for our domestic enemies.

For a ‘modern’ battle rifle, I like my StG 58 FAL. Come to think of it, I need to bitterly cling to that FAL on the 400 yard range for a little refresher. Looks like we’re going to need it.

A "tanker" Garand is shorter and better balanced. It loses some of the 30-06's punch, but it's still got a lot.
