Expedition or Sequoia?
Vanity | 10/25/2008 | Tuxedo

Now that gas is about to dip below $2 here in San Antonio, it is time to buy a bigger vehicle for camping (towing) and long-distance travelling (Texas to Ohio). I am considering an Expedition (have the Ford A Plan) and Toyota Sequoia. Any owners out there that want to state their case? Any others I should look at? Thanks in advance!!!

I’m in a happy mood (my Texas A&M Aggies finally won a game in the Big XII this eve)... so I’ll pass on a useless piece of trivia: Sequoia = has every vowel in the alphabet... now you’re informed... please drive through :-)

I have a Ford Fusion and the car is outstanding. I saw 3 Obama cars today. Subarau, Honda and a Toyo. I had a Honda before.

Ford/Mercury/Lincoln are right up towards the top for quality rankings with Toyo and Honda.

More interior room and comfort in the sequoia but the expedition will tow more. If you are towing a lot and especially in hilly country, get the ford.

here’s a comparison test. The Toyota won best full size suv.

As a Ford owner (2005 Ford Explorer) I’d recommend the Sequoia.

But hold off until after the election. If Zero and the Dems get what they want and drilling is off the table, oil probably will be $300 a barrel within a year.

A mechanic in our mountain town owns a range rover with a bumper sticker that says “Only the finest of British parts fall off this vehicle”

Good point on the election. I can’t believe these things are almost $50K. Just damn.

I love, love, love our Expedition. My husband and I were ready to buy another Yukon xl, but decided to test drive the Expedition EL. We really were shocked at how much more we got for the money with the Ford product. We’ve had the truck for 18 mos and have 25k miles on it. Still enjoy it as much as the day we bought it.

Thank you! Have yet to drive either one - that will in part tell the tale. Toyota generally charges a lot for options, so will likely be more. Ford currently has better incentives. What made you decide on the EL vs the standard length and what trim did you get?

Two thoughts.

1. support the American company.
2. do you think gas will be $2 next year?

Buy a used, older model Chevy Suburban. At 8-10K per, you’ll have to throw a lot of money down that gas tank to equal the price of one of those fancy, new fangled veehickles you speak of.

There’s a spiffy one with orange and green flip-flop paint at the little dealership on the corner of San Pedro and Oblate, if I may make a reccomendation... :-)
