Chapel Hill, N.C. (AP) --
Shawn Turschak of Chapel Hill was tired of someone stealing McCain-Palin campaign signs from his yard. Turschak, with a degree in electrical engineering, hooked up a third sign to a power source for an electric pet fence Monday and also put up a surveillance camera.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that a 9-year-old boy with an Obama-Biden sign grabbed the McCain-Palin sign and got a jolt on Tuesday.
...Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass said he doesn't plan to file charges.

HAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!! Funniest thing I heard all day! HHHAAAAAAAAA!
Shocking
I would love to see this on pay per view. It would make a fortune.
I’ve had several signs stolen from my yard. Whoever grabs my sign next time is in for a nasty surprise. I wouldn’t hot wire a sign though...that could be really dangerous.
Good thing the Sheriff didn’t decide to throw the book at him...
Now, how much you wanna bet some other Obamanoid got himself zapped with the sign, so they sent in a 9-year-old in order to get sympathetic press?
Oh Sure.
The guy is a EE. He knew what he was doing. It was a pet fence transformer. Just enought to make you let go in a hurry.

This reminds of a story from my childhood when my father got tired of kids destroying our porch pumpkin on Halloween. My father who had experience as an electrician hot wired a pumpkin to provide a nonlethal jolt to anyone touching the pumpkin. I can still remember the yelps coming from a couple of potential pumpkin rustlers!
Now that’s a ZOT!
betcha that tingled..
I remember brushing electric fences as a kid on the farm..

They’re sending out children. Guess they picked up that tip from their friends at the Obama call centre in Gaza.
The correct title should be “Boy shocked after trying to steal campaign sign”
I kept restarting the video over and over...what a kick!! I loved it.
“Noble said his son just wanted to see how the sign was put together.”
Likely stories.
Oh I know he’s an engineer...I’m not thoughm that’s why I wouldn’t try it. I do however, have a few tricks up my sleeve.
there are other people who’ve taken to rubbing poison ivy on their campaign signs. the gift that keeps giving as those who get the rash spread it to others.
sounds like the father was trying to teach the boy to steal signs and got upset that it failed
A ‘shock’ you can believe in..............
They probably learned it from the muzzies.
ping!
It’s on a previous thread. Send me $100 and I’ll give you the FR link to the U tube vid.
My dad took a ground rod like the ones you see near electric meters at your house, soldered and clamped the non-neutral wire from an extension cord to it; he would go out in the evening and have me plug it in once he stuck it about 10 inches in the ground where we had watered earlier in the day.
About two to three minutes later, we would have a coffee can of nightcrawlers ripe for the picking, stunned but still just fine for his “worm bin.”

Now you can write him and let him know teaching his child that it is okay to vandalize private property makes him a POS
There is someone else who suggested running wires to the campaign sign (not attached to anything).
“Are you feeling lucky, punk?”
some capsasian (spelling?) + Vaseline smeared on the edges of a sign would be a gift that keeps giving for a few hours for any sign theives.
There’s nothing dangerous about an electric fence. Just jolting.
When I was a kid and visited the farm, one old guy would tease the kids and have them touch the electric fence that was around the hog lot. He got a kick out of that.
My son got a fence energizer not too long ago and would haul it out when he invited friends over for a party. They soon tired of playing with it :) It still has a “touch here” sign on the terminals.
Confession time........back in ‘76, when I was about 16, me and my buddies stole campaign signs from peoples yards. And we paid absolutely no attention to which signs we were stealing. Why? Same reason I once broke a window in an abandoned house.......too much testosterone with no place to go.
I think people are getting a little too worked up over some puny signs that they aren’t going to care two wits about in a few days.
The McCain guy would be doing this boy a big favor if he filed charges. The boy needs to learn now that it is wrong to steal and or damage other people’s property. And the father of this boy does too.
The sign had been stolen multiple times, the McCain just finally got fed up....
Word to the wise, if you’re going to booby trap your McCain sign, post a warning sign prominently above or below the sign and at the entrance of the property. Also post a sign regarding trespassers. Do not use any potentially lethal booby traps. A mild shock booby trap is borderline.
If you’re in a predominately hispanic neighborhood, be sure to post your warning signs in both English and Spanish.
/mildly sarcastic but good advice ;-)
Yep.
Noble needs to teach his boy to read. There was a warning sign next to the McCain sign.
It is a national trend that was a tactic of the Left in 2004 as well. At least they have slowed down on painting swastikas on the campaign signs (a common occurence on Bush-Cheney signs in 2004).
Arson of signs and Republican homes remains a danger this season.
The father of this boy is such a whimp (union thug?), he has his dumb kid do his dirty work and in broad daylight...just does not get any dumber.
The little puke’s father is a professor? Gee, what a surprise. Typical liberal weasel. No respect for private property or the right of others to express an opinion different from his own. The ends justify the means, after all.
We had an old bull that loved the hot wire. He would back into the wire and shall I say...got physically excited. I'll have to admit...he never tried to push passed the wire.
I believe that BreitBart has it up, and you can bet your backside it's on Youtube real soon. Nothing to shut up a Liberal Daddy like 3.2 million views of the actual incident all over the Internet...
Ha. Don’t piss on an electric fence. Don’t piss off an electrician...
On my way to work this morning I saw a McCain/Palin sign on which someone painted a swastika last night. Of note was that the symbol was backwards - I guess the vandal isn’t real bright. The other sad thing is that the permanent sign (under which the campaign sign was hung) was also hit with spraypaint. I will make extra efforts to patronize the sign-owner’s business this summer.
Speaking of stealing yard signs. In 2004 we had a rash of that in our town. I had several yard signs in my front yard. I simply linked all of them together with copper wire and metal clipped them to each sign. The wire was, then, linked to my yard lamp post near the outlet box on the lamp post. The fake hookup was not live and posed no safety problem BUT the punks didnt know that. Kept my signs up for a month without any problems. Others in our subdivision got theirs stolen though.
hmmmm I better rethink some of the things I’ve done to my signs then. Well Mabey not! LOL. The kid got shocked he learned a lesson..end of story. I guess his dem parents will want to sue the owner for mental distress and pain and suffering now? If he touched one of my signs his hands and eyes would be burning. Little brat learned a life lesson.
