Understandable. That, though, is one reason I like it. It’s unfake.
That was an absolutely brilliant movie.

Yeah, for sure. I cannot watch the end of the movie without crying like a schoolgirl.
One of my kids wanted my socks and some grease. I told her NO WAY! No sticky bombs!

I saw one last night I hadn’t seen before- 1942 “Stand by for Action!”
It had some humorous moments, but it was a pretty good Navy flick.
How about favorite military movies?
We were Soldiers
Saving Private Ryan
Enemy at the Gates
The Bridge over the Rive Kwai
The Blue and the Gray
Go Tell the Spartans, a great Vietnam War flick starring Burt Lancaster.
Sometimes you are fighting with your own men.
The Longest Day
I don’t care for movies that screw around with actual events. “Wake Island” is one of those. The screenplay leaves the impession that they fought to the last man. Many of them actually surrendered, only to die as prisoners later. I have seen survivor’s interviews. I guess the real ending would not have been as dramatic, and the movie was made during wartime.
“A Bridge Too Far” was excellent because they made a terrific effort to be authentic. I get tired of seeing modern American tanks painted like German. I laughed when I saw M-41s attacking M-48s in “Patton.”
The Patriot
The Thin Red Line
