Meanwhile President Bush just pardoned a rapper who was in jail for transporting 31 pounds of liquid cocaine in 2 briefcases (apparently he is so talented that Orin Hatch at Carley Simon appealed for him). Wasn't it a commutation, not a pardon? A commutation reduces the sentence, in this case to 7 years or so from whatever the original sentence was, if I remember the article in the New York Post correctly. He still is a convicted felon, etc. Still not a good idea, but not nearly as bad as a pardon.
