These waves can occur anywhere at anytime, and considering this I wont be going on any cruise ships ever... And you could be struck by lightning from a clear blue sky (google "positive giant" lightning), does this mean you stay indoors at all times?
Don't let the strategy of minimizing risk take the fun out of your life.

My cousin and a friend died from a rouge wave at Cabo San Lucas. They were not surfing just near the shore. This was about 13 years ago and I had never heard of rouge waves before that.

I don’t, I enjoy the outdoors all the time. However, I have successfully mitigated my risk of losing my boat to a rogue wave on the high seas by 100% by never going there. I will not let the strategy of the rogue wave render me a bobbing, human cork in the middle of nowhere.

Seriously. I think you are in more danger driving to Starbucks for a latte in the morning.
That's OK though... no cruise for you. :-)

Heh, you could be right on that, especially considering the skill of drivers around here. But fear not! I have purchased a home cappuccino machine, so such trips will not be necessary :D
