how can a team play for the National Championship without winning their own conference?

Not necessary. I think Oklahoma did it in 2003.

So if Florida beat Alabama it’s not neccessarily a guarantee that Florida will play in the BCS Championship game (since Florida is #4 in the BCS). They might be pit Oklahoma and Texas again.

Barry Switzer has an tremendous amount of life experiences in common with Bill Clinton. They could have been brothers except Barry’s wives and girlfriends are far better looking.

Make you feel any better?

You gotta think Florida would leapfrog Texas after beating the #1 team, though.

This is a disgrace...

I assume you mean that it is a disgrace that Oklahoma will play in the Big 12 championship instead of Texas. Could be, but why in the world did the Big 12 do something as stupid as having the BCS polling system determine who should play in its championship game? The Big 12 did something pretty stupid in my book.

In time, this setup should be futher refined to look more like what college baskeball has in March called the “brackets”.

Doesn’t #2 from the Big 12 go to the Fiesta Bowl?

Yes, on second thought I think you're right. Texas might end up playing Boise State or Utah in the Fiesta.

This is BSU team is at least as good, if not better than that one.

I don't think BSU is quite at that level just yet. As well as they've played (and having seen both teams in person) I'd say the '06 BSU team is still better than this year's team.

That having been said, BSU still has a fistful of underclassmen so I think the Broncos will be better by the time 2010 rolls around.

Because they're Notre Dame. It ticks me off too, but their fans and boosters have lots of money to waste on lousy teams and will sell out a bowl game no matter where it is.

Normally, that's true but I don't think a 6 - 6 team would be shameless enough to go to a bowl game, not even Notre Dame. They're an embarrassment and I would hope they would simply try to regroup for next year at this point.

I have a lot of resentment about Switzer after he demolished the Cowboys. I was a huge Cowboy fan from childhood but he turned them into the same thugs he had at ou for so many years. I don’t think the Cowboys will ever completely recover from his years there.

They might be pit Oklahoma and Texas again.

That might happen. What would be even more compelling is if Mizzou ends up beating OU. Then what?

Texas still has a chance, don’t give up. Maybe the Coltster can throw a 25yard+ pass before the season is over.

I don't think two teams from the same conference can play for the NC. I could be wrong,t though...

Barely? Baylor never scored after the second quarter.

No, Baylor scored the first touchdown of the 3rd quarter to go up 28-14.
