...and to the rest of us that screamed from the mountain tops to vote for mccain?

When McCain announces publicly that Obama is an honorable man, what reason could any of us offer for people not to vote for Obama? Among other things, McCain's statement means that at least one of the following statements must be true:

  1. Obama is honorable (and those claiming otherwise are just noise).
  2. McCain and Obama are both dishonorable (even if Obama is dishonorable, that's no reason not to favor him over McCain).
  3. Obama is dishonorable, and McCain is dangerously clueless. Possible judgment call as to whether Obama's dishonor is worse than McCain's cluelessness. I'm pretty sure most of us here would agree that it is, but that's hardly an argument for someone who would lean Democrat not to vote for Obama.
I guess the GOP is destined to live up to its moniker of "The Stupid Party".

Excellent analysis. Thanks for posting this.

It always disturbed me to hear McCain say that Obama was honorable. I put it down to Senate collegiality at the time, but I was unable to shake the feeling that something was seriously wrong. You nailed it.

IMO, if McCain thought Obama was not honorable, but felt compelled to be “polite” or “honorable” he could have just refrained from making the remark. Either he believes it or he’s lying.

Clueless or a liar.

(You see, I am rejected your first possibility. For the sake of completeness, it was necessary for you to list it as a possibility, but there is no evidence to support it and plenty of evidence to refute it.)
