NASCAR will test drivers for performance-enhancing drugs next month under a tougher policy that also bans using illegal drugs and abusing prescription medications.

NASCAR likely will test drivers the third week of January, and crew members must submit results from an approved lab by Jan. 16, according to documents obtained Thursday by The Associated Press

Shooting smack on race day? I don't believe a team would let a skag freak into the race car.

NASCAR has changed unfortunately. even ten years ago the other drivers would have brought it to the attention of NASCAR and team owners. Hopefully that’s still the case.

Now there's a loaded headline if I ever saw one (He said as he donned his red-neck-flame retardant suit).

You mean a sport born out of running illegal booze might involve illegal drugs?

Ha! Sure has changed since drivers drinking on I think the night before the Southern 500, tried to jump a swimming pool at Darlington back in the day..

I may be wrong on the details but I think it was Curtis Turner..

As a guy who watched Jeff grow up in my town of Pittsboro, In, and who still gets his hair cuts from the girl he went with to the prom, I say you’re full of BS.

Jeff Gordon is a first rate young man.

“The gap in the drug policy was exposed last September when Truck Series driver Ron Hornaday Jr. admitted he used a testosterone cream during 2004 and 2005 to treat a medical issue.

Hornaday has Grave’s disease, a condition he’s treating with Synthroid, which replaces a hormone normally produced by the thyroid gland to regulate the body’s energy and metabolism.

NASCAR did not punish him for the testosterone admission, saying the cream did not enhance his performance or impair his judgment. “

I am sure he is..but someone has to be the villian....

I was at poccano in 2000, jeff gordon hit the wall, 100,000
people cheered it was insane. I asked why they did this
and I was told...”Too good, to fast, to young”

That’s how I got my start on the Anti jeff gordon bandwagon

M-F I would be honored to have a beer with him, but come Sunday...all bets are off!

Merry christmas to you and your family!

Since he hasn’t won a race in a year and a half I doubt he’s doing anything illegal. But if I was him I’d sure score something for his inept pit crew/chief. They can’t get him out in under 15 seconds or set up his car to be fast the whole race. Wonder when he’s going to get tired of watching JJ win (even if he does own his car) with Chad Knaus, his former chief, and get him back again. He could have been the most dominant driver ever if they hadn’t split up.

That must be metric time. For most of us it’s 24 hours of LeMans.

Are Mike Helton and Brian FRance part of the testing?

More than a few long-time Nascar followers may be interested in the results.

The last few years would indicate they must have been ingesting something.

It was a little joke about methheads staying awake for days at a time.
