Cat given contact lenses

A 15-year-old cat's eyesight has been restored by contact lenses in what's believed to be a medical first.
Ernest the cat was suffering from entropion, which meant his lids turned inwards and scratched his eyeball, reports Sky News.
Vets suggested the innovative solution because the cat was too old to risk a general anaesthetic.
Staff at the Godshill RSPCA on the Isle of Wight - Ernest's home of 13 years - said they had never heard of a cat wearing contact lenses before.
"He's much more comfortable. Previously his eyes were shut, now they are open," branch administrator Les Burrows said.
"We always used Ernest to test new dogs brought into us to see if they were scared of cats because he was never fazed.
"He is much more wary of the dogs now because he can actually see them."
Ernest will continue to live at the RSPCA because he is a permanent and popular fixture on the reception desk, he added. The lenses will be removed and cleaned by staff every three weeks.

‘Tis pretty sad when you have to go to Ananova to get a Caturday story.

Funny you should mention that...
About ten minutes ago I was taking my German Shepherd out for a walk (she likes to walk at nite: she finds it stimulating, sorta like being a wolf out on a hunt)...
Anyrate, there is a neighborhood cat that we call “Ghost Cat” — it’s a huge Persian cat that is pure white, unafraid of dogs. It hides in the bushes and as we’re walking by it will jump out and hiss!
(Naturally, the German Shepherd gets a fright, and then wants to go chase Ghost Cat: and I’m all on trying to hold onto her and get her back under control!)
Anyrate, that happened again tonite: Ghost Cat dived off an Electrical Transformer at us, hissing. And then it jumped out from behind a gate pillar, hissing again!
I wonder what’s the matter with that thing? Maybe it can’t see too good. Greta is a huge German Shepherd that could easily make a snack out of the Ghost Cat if she caught it.
Maybe Ghost Cat needs contact lenses...

Great story Hunter. We can only surmise about the Persian's eye sight, but you may be correct. The only thing I know for sure is how Persian's are made..........
Merry Christmas!

Thank you Hunter.
Now here's an idea for you ...put a mask on the dog's face when you walk by Ghost Cat and see what kind of a reaction you'll get.
We'll find funding for your research with our new administration. Will $18B do?
