A Marine Segreant-Major goes off the rails in a self control train wreck... I've met a few Marine Sergeant-Majors -- and it sounds like this guy wouldn't make the grade.

There is a lot more to this story. The Military don't Court Martial Sgt Majors for the hell of it.

Two DUIs is very serious in today’s military. At least he will get representation at his court martial.

Sounds to me like someone is out to get him, and he gave them the ammo to do it with.

There isn’t a grade in the military that I respect more, than that of a Sergeant Major. I’ve known a few bad and corrupt First Sergeants, but I’ve never even heard of a bad or corrupt Sergeant Major.

I’m going to watch this one.

This militarycorruption.com is really good reading. I remember reading the base newspapers and sometimes there would be results of court martials. It blew my mind on how some people who seemingly had it made would throw it all away. Usually over something very, very stupid.

I had an E-6 get a dui driving home from his retirement party. He faced a reduction in rank (and retirement pay) literally days before his ETS date. His hearing was non-judicial....all up to the Brigade Commander. I knew this SSG hardly ever drank - and this was just one stupid mistake. I told this to the Colonel; and, he decided not to do a reduction in rank.

This E-9???? I think his problem was lying to the police. I assume two dui’s wouldn’t merit a court martial. The court martial, and possibility of extended jail time has to be for the other charges. Tragic - but, he gets E-9 pay to make good decisions.

for the folks at militarycorruption.com,

The plural of Sergeant Major is Sergeants Major, and court martial is courts martial.

Would like to believe the diabetes/self medication theory in the hope that this fellow simply got axle-wrapped.

WHY DID THE SERGEANT-MAJOR FALL SO FAR, SO FAST?

'Cause Sergeant Majors ain't gods.

They only sit on the right hand side of god and if they piss him off, they fall from the throne.

Or get pushed.

Sometimes, there's an ambitious 1SG pulling on his legs from below.

Seriously, there is more to this than the media is telling.

Usually, an E9 that falls that far is quietly removed from the eye of the troops, punished severely and retired very quickly.

He's made someone mad, and they intend to make an example of him.

Everyone has a little right. There actually were 6 DUI’s that he had brushed under the rug over the years, the last of those being January of the same year. So then they found out that... He had been driving on station for quite some years without a driver's license or insurance, also checking out Gov’s (as the one he was driving the night he was arrested), there were 2 unregistered guns in that vehicle also but since AZ has no law for registering them that was not a charge from AZ but was in the court martial. What he ended up with was a slap on the wrist and he was forced to retire at 29 years, with full bene’s, in the AZ courts he also skated, dropped to misdemeanor, time served, & a fine.
CA and AZ apparently don't work together on these things, they did however extradite him from CA once, to force him to show up. Warrants were issued for his arrest 3 times since (CA case), for non compliance with the DUI program. He has been an alcoholic for a very long time, a MASTER manipulator, constant delegator, Long time Liar, and an all around unpleasant guy. There wasn't anything that he had on anyone, his higher ups were very supportive and caring, I think it was the egg on their faces that made them so serious about this trial. He lied to all of them, so where is the loyalty in that? Shame is such an understatement, but he is still drowning it in the booze! He loved the Corps, but the Tequila is number 1.
