Word For The Day, Thursday, January 22, 2009 - pandiculation
dictionaries ad nauseum, internet | 22 Janiary 2009 | secret garden

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

pandiculation \pan-dik-yuh-LEY-shuhn\, noun
An instinctive stretching, as on awakening or while yawning

Example sentence:
"Pandiculate for Health! Grow Tall! Get Well! Be Young!" Exuberant ads like this, running in health-fad magazines since 1914, have proclaimed the virtues of a spine-stretching device called the "Pandiculator."
-- Time, 1942-04-12

Etymology:
By 1611, from French pandiculation from Latin pandiculari "to stretch oneself" and French suffix -ion.

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

In a figurative way Carolyn Kennedy is a classic case of over pandiculation, you know!

Every year I dislike cold weather even more. This is as far north as I’ll ever live!

i think it's THE TRUTH that tim is pandiculating. Chuck Grassley seared his butt a bit in his opening statement yesterday but i assume he will pass, which is really mindboggling if you think about his infraction and the job he is assuming.

Two things: xsbrownie should check out Paramore’s album “Riot.” Much better music than “Decode” or “I Caught Myself.”

My wand came yesterday. 14” Beech, Dragon heartstring.

xsteen may have that on her ipod. whatever xsteen has on her ipod, xsbrownie has on her’s, as they like the same music, and share the itunes library. xsboy’s taste is a bit diff, more teen boy hard rock, like when they sing and you think internal organs might come flying out of their mouths.

It was easier for me because for about a month before they combined, I had Sirius in my truck and XM in my car. Oddly enough, I picked out the same 4 channels in both. Hair Nation, Alt Nation, Lithium and Octane on Sirius. Boneyard, Squizz, Ethel and Lucy on XM.

i had sirius in my former van, which had the radio stolen from my parking garage, but i have XM in my new van. Xshub has XM in his denali and sirius in his MKZ [which is what xsboy is driving now that the Rav4 went to texas to live with its rightful owner, and which had XM]. so i am familiar with both, but some of my presets changed names or something and it threw me. did some merge and just keep one of the names or something?

xsteen found a pic of Rupert with his head in a guillotine in the dungeon in the Tower of London. She and her friend were in London on Halloween and DESPERATELy wanted to go to the dungeon for that occasion but the wait was eons long.
