My guess: your FR cookie is benign, but your freeware A/V program either has a bug in it or let a virus slip through but can’t accurately report it to you. Load up a copy of Norton’s latest and no telling what you might find.

Load up a copy of Norton’s latest and no telling what you might find you'd really be screwed and pay lots of money to get that way.

FYI Golden Eagle, it was a problem unique to Mozilla browsers.

i use AVG Protection Suite on my Windows HD, and don't have a bit of trouble. Apparently the problem has been fixed.

Yet another freeware product, apparently using them is how you get "screwed" (your words).

Not according to aft_lizard's latest posts. Meanwhile I have offered him a method to help get to the bottom of it, and prevent such issues in the future.

I like a good cookie.
Something like a large soft chocolate chip. Or a ginger-raisin.
Yes, a good cookie is a treat.

I understood “cookie.”

Going to open a package of Archways now.

AVG antivirus, the culprit here, is PROPRIETARY, not open source. If you were using ClamAV, or the Window$ version, ClamWin, THEN you might have an argument, but i doubt it.

As i have the paid for version of the product and do not have the problem, it is evident that AVG got it fixed.

Now go slime some other thread.

Take it up with the guy who claims to have the problem if you're so sure it's impossible, but you might quit slinging insults long enough to realize that just because you supposedly don't have an issue doesn't guarantee no one else on earth does.

I understood “of,” “and,” and “the.”

LOL! I am relatively new to the IT field--went from zero to MCSA with 6 months of night school. Whenever we got a new text I'd ask my instructor if we could have just one that was written in English. Geek speak is definitely a language all its own.

A bucketful of headaches, likely.

Ever since I renewed my subscription, it won't auto-update the virus signatures. That's a new 'feature' for them.

So every couple of weeks, I have to hunt them down and manually update the virus signatures.

This thread reminded me it's time to do that.

Of course, I could pay them $10 a pop for technical support so I could chat with folks in south Asia who will start with 'reboot your computer'.

By the way - good to see you back. It's been a while. These threads aren't nearly as much fun without you on them.

I would probably try a remove then reinstall, and it should remember your current subscription based on your e-mail address etc. If it doesn't you're no worse off than you were. But to be honest I've gone for a long periods of time just manually updating them, and pocketing the money myself. Sometimes they re-arrange their site where it's not obvious you can manually update without paying for them, but they're usually available out there just listed under the "business customers" portion of their site.

By the way - good to see you back. It's been a while. These threads aren't nearly as much fun without you on them.

Thanks, I get quite a kick out of some of these rude know it alls myself, else I wouldn't waste so much time trying to educate them. ;-D
