Fellow Texas travelers: I came upon a horrendous head-on on I-45 just north of Madisonville today around 2:30.
LOL! Me too.
yet, we simply let the elders run people down, drive carelessly, accidentally step on the accelerator, etc...
A bunch of friends and I got stuck in the backup on the way back from Dallas. We were stopped so long that we made friends with the Aggies in the truck behind us, played a few games of cards, and everyone not driving had a few beers.
We saw life flight land and take off again. When we were finally able to get off the highway the backups didn’t end. All the way into Huntsville on the back roads everything was really backed up.
All in all we were stuck for three hours. We pulled up to the jam just after 2, and sat until almost 5.
Personally, I’m an advocate of driving testing for everyone, every 5 years. And every 2 years past 65. I have no IDEA how anyone could get on I45 going the wrong way. All the ramps hold multiple signs, you’d be on the wrong side of the road, there’s a yellow line on the left shoulder and a white one on the right... plus there’s large amounts of traffic coming head on at 85-90 mph.
