Shirley Jean Rickert dies at 82; child star of 'Our Gang' comedies

Shirley Jean Rickert, a former child actress who was the cute little blond with the spit curls in "Our Gang" comedies in the early 1930s and later became a long-haired burlesque stripper known as Gilda and Her Crowning Glory, has died. She was 82.

Rickert, who in recent decades went by her married name of Measures, died Friday after a long illness in a nursing home in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., said her daughter, Melody Kennedy.

“Our Gang” movies are great. Also a testament to how poor America really was at one point in time - and how all the stuff we have now and all the housing bubbles/financial bubbles and money everywhere did not make us a better country...

So sad. My mother grew up watching them during the depression....I did as a child....and my boys LOVE the ‘Our Gang...Little Rascals’ collection we have.

Wow! I haven’t thought of Our Gang strips in years. I just passed the 50 mark and thought that they were all long gone by now. Hats off to this lady. By the photos, she was a darling little girl.
