Thanks... I think I’ll try this - its been a couple years since I looked at Linux - built in multimedia support may tip the balance.

I tried. My mouse didn’t work.
I mean a mouse has been around for like as long as a wheelbarrow or that fire stuff, so if a distro has conniptions over a mouse, it’s got serious issues.

I love the Compiz Fusion cylinder. I rather like Linux Mint (basically Ubuntu 7 under the covers). The Software Manager is what sold me. It makes browsing for, installing and uninstalling software packages absolutely painless.
Here's my new desktop wallpaper:

"...GeForce card, Belkin USB Wireless, Sony Mavica, everything was recognized at install and drivers offered for them. Right out of the box, I can play, rip, and record CD and DVD, Flash is present and working."OK, you convinced me and I got the torrent running.
I installed and fought with Kubuntu 8.10 KDE 4 for a day (trying to get the file manager to tell me where everything was) and am now looking for something a bit more straight forward. Am I the only one here ticked off at Dolphin/Konqueror?

I've had the basic one for over a year. But, I like the colorized logo. Can you cut that logo and put it up for us in hi res? Thanks.

I haven’t tried Kubuntu 8.10. I do have an older Kubuntu box with no real problems, other than I think KDE installs too much stuff, and it hates my ATI graphics card.

Yeah. I think they so want to attract Windows users, that they are falling in the same hole, at least that’s my observation with KDE.
They really do need to put out a “beginners” Ubuntu distribution.

Sure. Well sort of. I'll post a link to to the hi-res version that I downloaded from when I get home later today. My company blocks the site I downloaded from.

I couldn’t get it to install, period, except for the one time. It kept having problems with the video. Finally worked though, gave me nice screen rez. The installer though was operating in 640x480 mode, but not resizing the dialogs. Really fun (not).

Ah, ok. One other thing I found is you’ll have to right click and copy the image from the link I posted. Then paste into PhotoShop. If you right click and save it will save as an HTML file.
