Doctors are failing to diagnose HIV in older patients, who are exposed to greater risk of infection as erectile dysfunction drugs extend their sex lives, a study published by the World Health Organization said on Tuesday.

The report in the WHO Bulletin found that increasing numbers of sexually active people aged 50 and upwards -- who are more likely to risk unprotected sex than younger people -- are contracting the AIDS virus.

TOPICS: Health/Medicine
KEYWORDS: aids; health; hiv; promiscuity
* Doctors failing to screen for HIV in older patients

* HIV progresses faster to AIDS in those aged 50-plus

* Older people more likely to risk unprotected sex

* One reason for the increase in frequency is the use of impotence treatments that have allowed both men and women to have more sexual partners.

* Patients over the age of 50 make up roughly 8 percent of new HIV diagnoses in Europe and 11 percent in the United States, where rising numbers of older people are infected with the virus that spreads through sex, transfusions, and needle-sharing.

Well if the youth aren't going to get up in arms maybe we can panic the senior citizens.

Ah, yes. The “make love, not war” generation. What a great mantra. I suppose, however, up to the point where you're a disease infected, rotting hunk of meat, it is more enjoyable.

“The Vil-la-ges” comes to mind.

There was an article in the NY Post recently that the county when the Villages is located had had a HUGE spike in the reported number of STD cases...

The Villages is so large that it lies in three Florida counties, not just one. And a lot of other retirement areas in Florida are also seeing STD rate spikes amongst the geezer set. After all, they need to do something with all that spare time on their, uh, hands . . . .

Making up for lost time????? ;-) Prior to retirement, they were all too up-tight and busy raping the poor and downtrodden and raising little Nazis. Now that they got theirs, the rest of the world can go take a short walk off a short pier. Who knows what evil lurks in the minds of repressed wives? The Shadow does.

Something’s wrong with the posting process. My sarcasm off didn’t register and it posted twice. It really wasn’t that great to read twice.

I'm not really sure. The Pepsi Generation has morphed into The Viagra Generation? Republicans are more virile than Dims, and when the spirit moves them they just have to put that thing somewhere? There's something in the water down here?

Another attempt at de-gaying HIV. What they fail to mention is how many of these older patients were gay.

While that's true, I think that it's just the start of the full court press on the older generation to get them clammoring for the fix from Big Brother.
