Security Advisory: Firefox 3.0.7

For all you alternative browser types out there, Mozilla has released a new version of Firefox (3.0.7). The latest updated fixes eight vulnerabilities, six of which are considered critical.

Mozilla developers identified and fixed several stability bugs in the browser engine used in Firefox and other Mozilla-based products. Some of these crashes showed evidence of memory corruption under certain circumstances and we presume that with enough effort at least some of these could be exploited to run arbitrary code.

Is it going to disable all my streaming radio site, lose all my bookmarks and browsing history like the last time I upgraded to 3.03?

Does anybody no anything about Comodo firewall?

It appears that it is only available with the anti-virus program now?

Was it always like that?

I think it is both a Firewall and Anti-virus package.

I was going to install the firewall last night, but held back because I already have Avast for AV protection. Don’t want another.

I rec'd that update via the auto update function.

Sadly, I can't tell when I got it. The Installed date reads as Jan. 01, 1970, 12:00:00 AM!

Furthermore, I've been having problems lately. Such as a huge amount of memory being used (340,000kb) with 4 tabs open, and sometimes, when I have multiple tabs open, clicking on one produces the hour glass and a 30 second to 1 minute or so wait for anything to happen.

I've been thinking, perhaps, it was an errant add on, but disabling them makes no difference at all.

I switched to Opera a couple of weeks ago. Thunderbird crapped, then Firefox. Thunderbrid crapped out on my sis last fall, she is still using Firefox.

Does it still slow to crawl if you open up several tabs at once? I used to think FF was great, but then it got slower than IE, so I’ve switched back to IE. I know I’m just one of many who did.

Ah, I see. It looks like they may be only offering the “combo” for download now. I wonder if I’ll be forced to switch?

I have plenty of memory and horsepower so I don’t notice any slowdown...running Ubuntu Jaunty Alpha 5 64 bit...at the moment....FF 3.0.6 yet.

I’d be glad to see an update that fixes all memory leak issues in FF. Mine is currently running at a 181 Mb usage. Up from where it started at 51Mb 4 hours ago.

There are a bazillion threads at the forum about upgrading to 3.03 and the loss of bookmarks, etc. It was a real pain. In fact, it wiped out a lot of stuff in Thunderbird. I had a heck of a time finding the backups.

Has me scared to death about upgrading.
