I like the one where the vintage car is racing down the street. Something is chasing it with red and blue strobe lights. The car goes over the cliff and the young kid barely gets out in time.

The police vehicle is a flying machine, the cop looks like a futuristic soldier and he says “What is your name?”

The little boy stands up and proclaims proudly “My name is James Tiberius Kirk!”

THAT is a perfect scene.

Perhaps good cinema, not good Trek. The only canon descriptions of young James Kirk s described by his First Officer Gary Mitchell who had known him the longest, were that he was serious to the point of being grim, and studious as though he were a book with legs. Continuously the losing end of jokes and harassment at the Academy, as per Kirk’s recollection. Is that the Kird the trailer shows ?

But then what’s 40 years of continuity.

Is that what Roddenberry's hopeful vision of a shining future has become? In 150 years we're all still going to be hassled by traffic cops? Yeesh.
