Say, are you (or anyone else) going there? I would like to get some tapes (or CDs) of the proceedings. It sounds very interesting.

I’ve talked with Guy at length at the Aztec conferences.

And, I have all his DVD’s. At least that he’d produced at that time.

I doubt I’ll be able to go to this one. Have a LOT of irons in the fire for this summer.

And it is a very long drive, to me. And not that interesting a one! LOL.

Would love to go if it weren’t so far.

Thanks for the bump and for asking.

You can order those from his website now.

His stuff used to be at whatever donation was fitting to the person.

I don’t know if he’s changed that policy or not.

He’s worth a significant donation above production costs and handling.

His panels of experts are top flight, imho.

I am confident they will film the sessions and have DVD’s after it is over. I am familiar with several of the speakers and would thoroughly enjoy watching their talks.

Mike Heiser has an M.A. and Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and Semitic Languages from the University of Wisconsin. He has done a lot of work trying to understand the ancient texts.

I read his book "Facade"...it was OK but not great. He is probably much better at scholarly writing than fiction.

Yep! It is interesting.

Read the Book of Enoch (available online) and then reread Genesis 6 and the Book of Jude.

Enoch (though pseudepigraphal, it was found with the Dead Sea Scrolls) sheds a lot of light on the canonical books.

Yeah, I’ve read some of his material, but not the his book, Facade. If I remember right, he talks about the “council of gods” quite a bit. And initially it raised concerns in my mind about it. I asked him about his faithfulness to the Word of God, in its doctrine and teachings and he claims to be solidly conservative, Biblical, Evangelical and adhering to all the essential and basic doctrines of Christianity.

But, the “council of gods” thing was somewhat a departure from other scholarship, though...

As far as the DVDs, I found out that they are $29.50 for a set of two...

Yep, not sure where he gets that “council of gods” stuff. Sounds like vivid imagination or reading between the lines...or a little of both.

[ *** Okay, I can’t resist it... ***]

Well, I looked at that page for the Christian Symposium on Aliens...
http://www.christiansymposium.com/

And I see that they’ve got a place for people to stay, at the Best Western...

BUT, I was there in Roswell, a little while back, looking around and I stayed just a few blocks from there, at the Holiday Inn Express (great place to stay, by the way...).

And so, while I didn’t know a thing about UFOs or the alien abductions and the Nephilim before I got there, when I woke up the next day after staying at the Holiday Inn Express — I knew everything that I needed to know... :-)

You said — “Yep, not sure where he gets that “council of gods” stuff. Sounds like vivid imagination or reading between the lines...or a little of both.”

The posters over at Chuck Missler’s member’s forum discuss this quite a bit. And, apparently, Mike Heiser, is held in high regard. He does have something to do with a popular computer program, too — Bible software (can’t remember the name of it now).

And a lot of people seem to have “bought into it” without any problem, over at Chuck Missler’s forum site.

I will say this, that Mike Heiser doesn’t apparently just pull this “out of his hat” like a rabbit trick, out of nothing. He’s apparently done a lot of research on the matter and has presented “papers” on it, and a lot of it is far beyond what I can really get into.

I just feel that I don’t have the *complete grasp* of where he’s going with this idea, so I’m reluctant to “buy into it” at the present time...

Very interesting!

Yes I think everyone concerned is pondering the evidence that Aliens just might well be FALLEN ANGELS....

You are certainly correct about Heiser's thorough scholarship and perhaps I spoke to hastily.

I don't think he would draw such conclusions without substantial effort. That said, I personally know nothing of that subject.

ANOTHER TAKE — on the UFOs of the time...

I just got finished downloading a bunch of Billboard Top 100 songs (or Top 30, depending on the year), for the 50s...

I just listened to this one (and I remember it from back then...)...

The Purple People Eater
By Sheb Wooley
Released 6/2/1958

Well I saw the thing comin’ out of the sky
It had the one long horn, one big eye
I commenced to shakin’ and I said ooh-eee
It looks like a purple eater to me

It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin’ purple people eater

A one-eyed, one-horned, flyin purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me

Well he came down to earth and he lit in a tree
I said Mr. Purple People Eater, dont eat me
I heard him say in a voice so gruff

It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin purple people eater
One-eyed, one-horned flyin purple people eater
One-eyed, one-horned, flyin purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me

I said Mr. Purple People Eater, what’s your line
He said it’s eatin’ purple people and it sure is fine
But that’s not the reason that I came to land

Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin’ purple people eater
Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin’ purple people eater

Flyin purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me

And then he swung from the tree and he lit on the ground
He started to rock, really rockin around
It was a crazy ditty with a swingin tune

Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin purple people eater
Pigeon-toed, undergrowed, flyin purple people eater

Flyin little people eater
Sure looks strange to me

And then he went on his way, and then what do ya know
I saw him last night on a TV show
He was blowing it out, areally knockin em dead
Playin rock and roll music through the horn in his head

Tequila

Listening to it again, now...

Logos Bible Software
http://www.logos.com/

See the following from - http://www.michaelsheiser.com/

Mike Heiser earned the M.A. and Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible and Semitic Languages at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. Before attending the UW-Madison, Mike earned an M.A. in Ancient History from the University of Pennsylvania (major fields: Ancient Israel and Egyptology). Mike was hired as the Academic Editor of Logos Bible Software shortly after completing his Ph.D. Before joining Logos, Mike spent twelve years teaching biblical studies, history, and biblical languages on the undergraduate level. Mike’s main research interests are Israelite religion (especially Israel’s divine council), contextualizing biblical theology with Israelite and ancient Near Eastern religion, biblical languages, ancient Semitic languages, textual criticism, comparative philology, and Second Temple period Jewish literature. His dissertation was entitled, “The Divine Council in Late Canonical and Non-Canonical Second Temple Jewish Literature.” The dissertation sought to discern the ancient Israelite background to Judaism’s “Two Powers in Heaven” teaching.

Mike’s other academic interests include paranormal and occult religions and western esotericism. He is particularly interested in how these worldviews and traditions have historically drawn on biblical and ancient Near Eastern material and in turn influenced biblical interpretation on the popular level. He has become well known through numerous radio appearances for his critiques of “parababble” and inside-the-box religious thinking. He is best known to popular audiences for his paranormal thriller, The Facade, which intertwines many of his interests.

I prefer the Bible Software — Accordance...

Here’s another one from 1956 (been listening to those oldies... ).

It’s a compilation of short segments of other popular songs, inserted into a dialog, to fit the story-line It’s funny...

Flying Saucer
by Buchanan & Goodman
Released 8/4/1956

We interrupt this record
To bring you a special bulletin
The reports of a flying saucer
Hovering over the city
Have been confirmed
The flying saucers are real

(Too real when I feel
What my heart can’t conceal)

That was The Clatters
Recording, Too Real
We switch you now to our
On the spot reporter downtown

(Come on, baby
Let’s go downtown)

Take it away
John Cameron Cameron

This is John
Cameron Cameron downtown
Pardon me, madam
Would you tell our audience
What would you do if
The saucer were to land

(Duck back in the alley)

Thank you and now
The thin gentleman there

(What I’m gonna do
Is hard to tell)

And the gentleman
With the guitar
What would you do, sir

(Just take a walk
Down lonely street)

Thank you
We return you now...

This is Drak
Your outer space disc jockey
With a request for earth

(Earth angel, earth angel)

That was The Pelicans outer
Space recording, Earth
I’ve just been handed a bulletin
The flying saucer has just landed
We switch you again downtown

Here we are again
We have with us Professor
Sir Cedric Pentingmode
Of the British Institute
And the professor is approaching
The saucer to see if there’s
Possibly any sign of life aboard

Well, I’m sure something
Are you there

(I hear you knocking
But you can’t come in)

That was Laughing
Lewis’ record, Knocking

This is John Cameron
Cameron on the spot
And now I believe we’re
About to hear the words of
The first spaceman ever
To land on Earth

(Womp bop a loo bop
A lomp bam boom)

And now here are the ball scores
Four to three, six to two
And eight to one

The impact of seeing
The first spaceman has
This reporter reeling

(Here I go reeling
Uh-oh, uh-oh...)

That was The Clatters again
With their big one, Uh-Oh

This is John Cameron
Cameron again downtown
The spaceman has returned
To his ship and is taking off
We return you now to our studios

The flying saucer has gone
There is no threat of an invasion
However, the flying saucers
Are still around

(Still around)

We are not going
To interrupt this record
Yes, we are

The flying saucer
Has landed again
Washington, The Secretary
Of Defense has just said

(Ain’t that a shame)

That was Skinny Dynamo’s
Record, That’s A Shame

This is John Cameron
Cameron, part two
Gathered around me are
Several of the spacemen
Tell us, have you come
To conquer the world

And now would you
Repeat that in English

(Don’t want the world
To have and hold)

Hey, why don’t you go back
Where you came from

(Don’t be angry
And drive me away)

We return you now
To our studios

Here is a news item
From Washington
The President has just
Issued a statement to the
Spacemen and we quote

(You can do anything
But lay off of my
Blue suede shoes)

That was Pa Gherkins record, Shoes
We switch you again downtown

This is John Cameron
Cameron downtown
Professor Sir Cedric of
The British Institute
Tell us how were
The saucers able to land

Well, you see..

(The motor cooled down
The heat went down)

That was Huckle Berry’s recording
The Moter Cooled Down

This is John Cameron
Cameron again
I believe the spaceman has
A final parting word

(See you later, alligator)

We return you now
To our studios

The spacemen have gone again
But look to the skies
The saucers will
Always be there

(Always be there)

Goodbye, earth people

These songs in the 50s were probably generated by the “1952 Washington DC UFO incident”....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1952_Washington_D.C._UFO_incident

The 1952 Washington D.C. UFO incident, also known as the Washington flap or the Washington National Airport Sightings, was a series of unidentified flying object reports from July 13 to July 29, 1952, over Washington D.C. The most publicized sightings took place on consecutive weekends, July 19–20 and July 26–27.

Longtime ufologist Richard H. Hall, who served as the assistant director of NICAP and as the director of the Fund for UFO Research, writes:

The summer 1952 UFO sighting wave was one of the largest of all time, and arguably the most significant of all time in terms of the credible reports and hardcore scientific data obtained.”

The Genesis

Let US make man in OUR image has always been a bit of a puzzle to Jews and Christians alike.

The Trinity helps . . .

And then there’s the Bible ref to: “The 7 fold spirits of God”

That’s exactly right. That issue/question was raised in that Missler member forum (in connection with the “council of gods”) and that’s the answer I gave. It’s the “Trinity” speaking...

Some had been wondering, in light of Mike Heiser’s “council of gods” if it was “this council” that was speaking that...

imho,

Scripture does not give us enough info to be very dogmatic or specifically clear about such phrases.

GOD ALMIGHTY

IS

GOD ALMIGHTY

That’s sufficient, for me.
