Some outstanding points covered in this article.

And while were are on the subject, how can Obama enforce illegal immigration laws when he is alleged to have actually been born in Kenya (and is not eligible to serve as President)?

The statistic I want to see is, what percentage of K-12 education spending, is in the classroom (compared to overhead and administration), and how does that compare to test results?

If we find, that success is based on demographics of the student body (and not expenditures), why shouldn’t we cut spending rather than increase it? One way, would be to subcontract and competitively bid common services (like construction and maintenance) rather than reserve them to unionized employees.

How much of my tax dollar funds the schooling of illegal immigrants? Far to much! Remember, an alien “works under the table,” thus paying no taxes, but is first in line to collect welfare benefits.

How much money is devoted to schooling “anchor babies” (children of illegal immigrants, who acquired citizenship merely by being born within US borders)?

I believe that illegal immigration in California is the source of our entire nation’s economy problems. The aliens take jobs and work under the table and don’t pay taxes which causes a snowball effect...........

The national and ethnic makeup of my daughter’s school has suddenly become statistically impossible over the last year.

It’s like it’s not even in America, anymore.

The illegals are crossing into the U.S. from here in San Diego also AZ, NM, and Texas.

It was one of the San Diego Congressmen, Duncan Hunter who wrote the legislation for the Border Fence.

Besides the Fence, those from all political beliefs who hire illegals, are also the problem.
No hire, No job.

I hear you all to well! Do you know where the 55 Freeway and Interstate 91 are at in Orange/Riverside Counties? I watched those areas develop rapidly with nice new housing developments and businesses. Just 5 to 10 years ago, they were All American cities. SUDDENLY, a surge of iilegal immigration has driven the Hispanic population to 75% to 99%...... What a CULTURE SHOCK I faced when returning after serving in the military and being out of the area for a few years.

The Democrats encourage illegal immigration, at the risk of the best interests of our nation, so that they can get easy votes with the promise of a free handout.

I teach at a rural school that is mostly Hispanic. I have about 10 kids who leave my room for 45 minutes daily to get English instruction. These kids can talk and understand English to a point, but they are illiterate. They can't even read Spanish, because their parents either can't, or don't. With the rest of the kids, I do stuff that is more English intensive, and they like it. I can tell they hate everything being "dumbed down" to accomodate kids who don't know the language, when they are perfectly capable of doing more. But you have to wait for the ELL's (English Language Learners) to catch up.

My boss's mantra is, "We will educate kids until they learn." Sounds good as a feel-good motto, but against reality, it doesn't wash. If I need to spend 10 hours teaching Pablo how to do something, when Inga can pick it up in 2, don't I owe it to Inga to spend a certain amount of time teaching her, so that she can press on to her potential? Not according to some people. And yes, bringing up the whole illegal thing makes the race patrol start barking.

The whole underground economy has been bleeding California for decades. We're just now seeing the results, and it's going to get worse until someone like Pim Fonteyn has the balls to say, "Hey, stupid, this is why your state is the way it is." If we could close the borders, weed out the illegals, imprison people who hire them (even in the agricultural industry) and have a 20% surcharge on ANY money transfers to Mexico and other parts south, we could make some headway. But until that happens, California can look forward to more kids who get an inadequate education because of what's there in the classroom.

I know the Democrats encourage illegals but those of all political views should be fined and or imprisoned for hiring illegals.

This isn’t a theory on my part, I live around 16 miles north of the largest and busiest border crossing in the world, San Diego - Tijuana

Tremendous post on your part! I’ll stand with you in speaking out against how illegal immigration is bleeding California’s economy (and it’s educational capability).

“I believe that illegal immigration in California is the source of our entire nation’s economy problems. The aliens take jobs and work under the table and don’t pay taxes which causes a snowball effect...........”

Not to mention the housing defaults caused by illegals and their criminal activity.

Political correctness prevents an honest discussion of this and other problems.

Where the heck did political correctness come from anyway? And why does it influence so many people?

So how many of the kids in California's schools are illegal aliens? What's the percentage, the ratio of illegals to citizens and legal residents? The author never says, but he does blame all of California's education problems on illegals. Not that illegals aren't a problem, but this is a pretty glaring omission in his analysis.
