WOW, so hopefully my current black car will not have to be re-painted if this happens.
I'm thinking - is this what CA is spending money on? It just seems stupid on the surface, perhaps not - I just don't know. I do know that black is the best color for any car - the look - although it's hard to maintain.

but all those white and metallic cars will reflect heat back into the atmosphere?
Is Kalifornia also going to ban blacktop/asphalt? How about banning black clothes?

And in response, I think all California police vehicles should be repainted fuchsia and white ... immediately.

Can we still hang the toilet paper roll any way we want? Or is it mandated that the paper has to come off the top of the roll?

idiots. maybe if they’d ban traffic jams, people would be in their cars less and cause less emmissions.

So wouldn’t it stand to reason that all black things take more energy to cool down and CARB should consider banning them? Just thinking out loud here about CARB’s insanity

When I read, “can't paint suppliers just come up with new, less heat-absorbent dark paints?”, I knew that everyone involved did not take high school science. Everyone knows that dark colors absorb heat radiation.
To really fix the problem, one would need to insulate the interior of the car like one insulates a house. Then the air conditioning systems would not have to cool the heat from a car's hot exterior metal. The problem is, who is going to go through the trouble and expense?
If I couldn't by the color of car I wanted in California, I would go up to Oregon and buy it there. Then, California loses out in the sales tax.
