Ugh. Google Maps Flu Tracking. I don't usually worry about these things, but I am just a little less than happy about next week's trip. At least I have a number of facemasks left over from some trip or another (possibly when I came to Las Vegas?).

Then again, it appears that this one is not really very virulent -- yet. The concern is over mutations or combination with other varieties that could make it nasty and/or give it Tamiflu resistance.

Might I suggest latex gloves, as well as facemasks? That is, if you can tolerate latex. I understand that shaking hands is part of the universal greeting, but Universal Precautions will be understood as well.

Just for kicks...I had an EXCELLENT pork chop today!! About an inch thick, and as lucious and juicy as one could want! And no, I’m not feeling ill!

Are you flying over CONUS? Wear your facemask, cough a lot whenever you have to get somewhere, and hold your mask like it was all that was between you and sudden death!

Use latex gloves, and look really fearful when someone asks for ID....reach in your purse, take your ID /passport with a finger and thumb and delicately hand it to whoever....koffing politely.

Not sure I'm into wooden shoes.

But I know I'm not into wooden brains. Bought a (semi-)new cellphone this afternoon to replace my failing unit... and somehow can't muster the brainpower to set it all up the way I want. I hope it's only jetlag affecting me -- I acquired a new responsibility at work today that looks an awful lot like management, but have to admit that of the potential candidates I'm the most likely one.

For all I have to figure how to get certain folks engaged in what they have to do, then disappear into travel for a week and a half...

You'll need to determine, so that you can let them know, exactly how their job performance is evaluated. It won't hurt to exaggerate your own role in that evaluation.

Let them understand how the system is designed to provide feedback for good performance, as well as negative results for underperformance.

Tell them you are a neutral witness, and that it is entirely up to them.
