I honestly wonder if this isn’t “size marking inflation.” In the same way that size numbers have been dropping for years (size zero? Isn’t that impossible in non-Euclidean measurement?) so that a size 5 today was a 10 a few years ago, maybe they have been “inflating” (pun as desired) bra sizes for the same reason?
