According to ancient Jewish traditions, once every 28 years the sun returns to the precise point in the sky where it appeared, at the very first moment of Creation.
Jew or Gentile go outside.
Look at the Sun.
And thank G-d for putting it there.
After a night of 20 degree temps you can bet I’m thanking God for putting it there.
Disclaimer Don’t really look at the sun directly, you could damage your eyes
That advice about looking at the sun was meant only for liberal Democrats.
I’d suggest a maximum of 30 minutes.
In Hebrew it is called birchas hachama, and you can google it if you are interested in reading more about it.
yet another ping.
If you'd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Some things never change
Ezekiel 8:16-18
And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’S house, and, behold, at the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces toward the east; and they worshipped the sun toward the east.
Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger: and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.
Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.
Except this isn’t worshiping the sun, this is a tradition thanking God for His creation, the sun is simply a time keeper in a sense, for this day of remembrance, not much different than a calendar showing Christmas every year.
I missed the last one. Could you ping me for the next one so I won’t forget?
I’ll add you to the ping list. Of course, at that time, FR will be beamed directly into your brain.
I thought Archbishop Ussher had the creation of Adam in the fall. How did he ignore this Jewish tradition?
lol
I watched the live feed from The Western Wall last night - fascinating
Thank you for reminder! I indeed am thankful, every day.
According to Bishop Ussher it would be in October. Who's right?
I doubt many people give Bishop Ussher much credence any more.
He’s popular among some conservative homeschoolers.
