Homeland Security on guard for 'right-wing extremists'

WASHINGTON – A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats. The report, titled "Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," dated April 7, states that "threats from white supremacist and violent anti-government groups during 2009 have been largely rhetorical and have not indicated plans to carry out violent acts." However, the report goes on to suggest worsening economic woes, potential new legislative restrictions on firearms and "the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergence of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent attacks."

Let's see, pro life, Ron Paul supporters and military vets, all a threat to America. I'm only disappointed that Freepers weren't named. We must not be doing our jobs

Most notable is the report's focus on the impact of returning war veterans.

I hope the vets are paying attention. This is what the Obama regime thinks of you.

Right Wing Extremist. That’s what they call you these days if you don’t have a picture of Vladamir Lenin in your wallet.

All easily anticipated fallout from the PATRIOT Act. Laws stay on the books, even though those in leadership change. And, of course, governments always seek to expand their control, power and authority.

From the REPORT:

* (U) Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.

I have to disagree with you on this one. The Homeland Security agency was mainly just to put the FBI, CIA etc. all under one umbrella for better communication. We were following in the footsteps of a lot of other countries such as Britian. This type of abuse was around long before the Homeland Security department and the Patriot Act. Remember in the 90's when we had the FBI attempting to infiltrate militias? This is more of the same. The government has always had the capability for this type of stuff. It depends upon the head of that government as to whether they would carry it out.

From the REPORT:

UNCLASSIFIED//FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY
— (U//FOUO) Proposed imposition of firearms restrictions and weapons bans likely would attract new members into the ranks of rightwing extremist groups, as well as potentially spur some of them to begin planning and training for violence against the government. The high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by rightwing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary
concern to law enforcement.
— (U//FOUO) Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to rightwing extremists. DHS/I&A is concerned that rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to
boost their violent capabilities.

Will Tim Robbins again declare that there is a chill wind blowing in America and that dissent is being silenced?

This is Stalinist. The Pravda Media serves the DNC. They were not restricted in their coverage of the last 8 years. They were not prosecuted as enemies of the State. Even when they were in DIRECT communication with members of Al Qaida (which is the dirty secret as to why they opposed stateside wiretaps of international calls with members of AQ).

“— (U//FOUO) Militia membership continued to decline after the turn of the
millennium as a result of law enforcement disruptions of multiple terrorist plots
linked to violent rightwing extremists, new legislation banning paramilitary
training, and militia frustration that the “revolution” never materialized.”

I’m not aware of laws forbidding paramilitary training. Anybody have a clue?

This just makes official what has been known for years in the government. Obama loaded his staff with Clinton people. We know what they thought of as so called right wing extremists.

From the REPORT: (Boy, they didn’t waste any time, did they?)

(U//FOUO) DHS/I&A assesses that a number of economic and political factors are driving a resurgence in rightwing extremist recruitment and radicalization activity. Despite similarities to the climate of the 1990s, the threat posed by lone wolves and small terrorist cells is more pronounced than in past years. In addition, the historical election of an African American president and the prospect of policy changes are proving to be a driving force for rightwing extremist recruitment and radicalization.
— (U) A recent example of the potential violence associated with a rise in rightwing extremism may be found in the shooting deaths of three police officers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on 4 April 2009. The alleged gunman’s reaction
reportedly was influenced by his racist ideology and belief in antigovernment conspiracy theories related to gun confiscations, citizen detention camps, and a Jewish-controlled “one world government.”

Recall that in the 1990s, the Clinton administration took the FBI’s eyes OFF of the threat posed by international terrorism (training for the 9-11 attacks in America) to send the FBI on a wild goose chase “investigating” a false claim of a “rash” of “racist” church fires.

“concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty”

I’d consider it an honor to be among them, considering LEFT wing extremists populate the current administration.

If the "vast right wing conspiracy" is soooooooo vast - why don't these officials trot out a few members?

Hitler used the Jews as a scapegoat - lots of stories about how horrible they were - but NO PROOF.

It's the same here. Show us the proof of damage - not words put in by dem shills ginning up fears in chat rooms.

And yeah, Timothy McVeigh was a monster - so was Bill Ayers.

This sort of thing is Janet Napolitano personified. The only sort of armed citizens she supports are dykes with pikes.
