"Yesterday, a Department of Homeland Security report about the rising radicalization of “rightwing extremists” was leaked. The right wing was immediately incensed, viewing the report on radical “extremists” as an attack on “conservatives.” MSNBC host Joe Scarborough, for example, tried to suggest it was a report about Republican “loyalists.”

However, this morning, Fox News’s Catherine Herridge revealed that the report, along with an earlier report on radicalized left-wing groups, was actually “requested by the Bush administration” but not completed until recently:

Somebody tell me this is crap...somebody tell me that this is like how the democrats tried to say the earmarks started under Bush

Because this will make us all look pretty stupid....something is fishy about this....seems like an excuse...why would napolitano be so adamant about defending this and why wouldn't obama say "hey bush did this one"

Ha haaaa!!!

And nobody came up with the "Bush's fault" thing because nobody could possibly have predicted that they would try to pin this on President Bush.

We should know better by now.

Just because the Bush Admin requested it does not mean the Obama Admin did not hijack it.

I see nothing wrong with a president requesting a report on potential domestic terrorists. IMHO, the problem isn’t so much that a report was requested. It’s what the report says that’s disturbing. It’s vague; it’s not based on clear evidence, and its definition of dangerous “rightwing extremists” seems to fit the average conservative.

So what?

Bush was being prudent in addressing radicals from both sides. (There radicals on both sides, ya know.)

It was Napolitano and Obama's DHS that included military veterans, ammo buyers and pro-life organizations as potentially falling under the radical extremist umbrella.

That's the problem.

Unless the Bush request was to target conservatives as extremists(which I doubt) the fact that the report was just completed under the Zeros makes this just a smokescreen to deflect blame where it belongs...on the Zero’s administration.

I just want to know where the report is on the Muslim training camps in the US. Are they "Right wing" under Sharia, or Left wing, or somewhere else?

Although the administration is touting the "leftwing" report as well, it does not even mention acts of physical violence until the appendix, and instead concentrates on cybercrime.

The poor bovines must be working overtime to produce all this.

I will. It’s a load of crap.

Sure, Bush may have very well considered the possibility of domestic terrorists. In fact I seem to remember some mention of that long ago. Heck, we have them and have had them for decades.

BUT, he did not have that POS document made.... That is clearly the work of Obama and his administrations.

They are lying, AGAIN.... and they are not going to ever stop lying to us.

It is a lie.

They are playing us for suckers.

Unfortunately, the media reports it and the drooling Obama supporters will believe this.

Even if this is true, which I highly doubt, it’s obvious the report was hijacked by Zero’s minions in order to broadly paint all conservatives as potential terrorists. It’s the ultimate in profiling. Wouldn’t want to offend any Muslims though, would we?

Well, I’d have to go back and look up the name of the freeper who brought the possibility to my attention a couple of days ago. I emailed Malkin to see if she uncovered any explanation and I’ve asked around about it here, but no one has been able to explain why, when you right click on the document at look at the properties, it says

I don't think GW Bush would sign off on a report that turns his own administration into a national security threat. GW Bush is now an extremist due to his pro life beliefs and Dick Cheney is the domestic equivalent of an Osama bin Laden/ satan hybrid.

http://hotair.com/archives/2009/04/15/top-homeland-security-democrat-objects-to-dhs-report-on-right-wing-extremism/

Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D) of Mississippi, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said in a letter to DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano that he was “dumbfounded” such a report would be issued.

“This report appears to raise significant issues involving the privacy and civil liberties of many Americans — including war veterans,” Mr. Thompson said in the letter sent Tuesday.

“As I am certain you agree, freedom of association and freedom of speech are guaranteed to all Americans — whether a person’s beliefs, whatever their political orientation, are ‘extremist’ or not,” Mr. Thompson said.

Thompson didn’t stop there. He wants an explanation of what “activities” Napolitano has planned with law enforcement officials to monitor legitimate public political activity, as promised at the end of the DHS report. He called himself “particularly struck” by this statement. And well he might; it promises to have government treat political discourse as a subversive activity.
