Put a bag over her head and let her sing.

The fun thing about seeing the video of her performance on Britain has Talent is the reaction she got (aside from hearing a tremedous voice).

We have been so heavily bombarded with the idea that beauty is visual, television trained by the acolytes of Twiggy, that we have forgotten that there is beauty where you find it.

Her voice is beautiful, and with a wee bit of training will be even better.

Good on her, God Bless her, and I hope to hear more of her singing in the future.

My personal opinion (for what that’s worth, lol!) is that “Cry Me a River” is OWNED by Julie London. I like Susan’s version, though, don’t get me wrong!

That said, Ms. Boyle’s story reminds me of the great Ella Fitzgerald, when she was just starting out. Ella went to audition for Count Basie, who took one look at her and dismissively called her a “sack of potatoes with legs”. THEN, Ella started to sing...Basie hired her in a hearbeat, and one of the best singers of the 20th century was brought to the world!

You GO, Susan!!!!!

No, I’m sure that Amy Winehouse thing is more his style. Maybe eyebrows could be the new tattoos?

That is one person’s opinion. Ignore the “man behind the curtain” and make your own decision on whether or not she is a good singer.

After listening to many performances of “I Dreamed a Dream” on youtube, I think Susan Boyle sang it better than most. Her performance stacked up well even against the professionals. The only performances I liked a lot more were Ruthie Henshall’s.

And Barbra Streisand is such a beauty!!

I've never heard a streisand song I liked. The snippets from this lady are surprisingly good. The one to which you refer seems to be extremely ugly on the inside to me. Visuals are not needed.

And many years back, the left dumped all over Kate Smith for her heart felt performance of “God Bless America”. Ignore the A**holes and enjoy the songs.

Ha! Great story! I saw Basie before he died at the University of North Alabama with my jazz ensemble. It was spectacular! :-)

I just made it up, but you can substitute anything you like in place of “punk” or “rap.” The point is that one slob lecturing another slob on his choice of music is pointless. Like I said, art is what you like. It’s personal. So what if one guy doesn’t like it? Plenty of others do.

Yeah, but see, accusing somebody of liking a type of music.. when they don't.. is about stupid.

The point is that one slob lecturing another slob on his choice of music is pointless.

True enough.

Now that she won't have that surprise factor going for her anymore, people might pay attention to where she may have weaknesses. Then again, because of the "feel good story" angle though, maybe not.

True, the surprise factor is over, but it makes no difference. Nobody's ever gone from total obscurity to practically having their name become a household word so fast since it happened to Monica Lewinsky. In this case, it's more like the Cinderella story that everybody loves so much, that's how Hollyweird was able to sell the public on the joys of prostitution with "Pretty Woman".

Yup. Its not just a talent contest.
