Looks like someone was a wee mite tipsy while driving there.
Must have paid too much attention to the lines.

It’s not the cyclists who are the problem. We have a bike path that runs parallel about 20-40 ft off a major roadway. I’ve come very close to being hit several times by inattentive drivers at pathway intersections. Once, I was walking my bike due to a flat tire standing on the path awaiting a green light. There was a car waiting also. As a pedestrian, I have the right of way. I had a red white and blue bike, yellow, red and black jersey, day-glo green highlights on my backpack and an orange helmet. (OK, so I like to be obnoxiously visible) The drive nearly ran me over as I stepped into the street to cross.
I’ve contact the county several times to put up signage warning/reminding drivers of the proximity of the path. This might be a worthwhile idea.

In Los Alamos County there is a law that require the motorist to give 5 feet of distance between them and a cyclist on the road. A guy that rode his bike everywhere got one of those whip antennas and put it on his bike but sticking out horizontally to ensure he got his “5 feet”.
Now I saw the antenna, but the motorcyclist in front of me didn't. It was truly a spectacular wipe-out by the bicyclist and I'm pretty sure the motorcyclist didn't even notice he had collected that antenna.

Bike riders are above the law. In my city they do not stop at stop signs, traffic lights, or use hand signals.
In Amsterdam, they have right of way over pedestrians and see no reason to notify you they are bearing down on you from behind.
