Yet again, the rumors were (almost) true. A day earlier than anticipated, Acer is launching what amounts to NVIDIA's first Ion-based nettop beyond those on display at CES and the like. The AspireRevo is debuting today alongside a plethora of other Acer wares, boasting a 1.6GHz Intel Atom 230 processor, up to 4GB of RAM, up to 250GB of HDD space, a 4-in-1 card reader, HDMI / VGA outputs, gigabit Ethernet, six USB 2.0 sockets, audio in / out, Windows Vista Home Premium / Basic and a svelte black and white enclosure that measures just 7.1- x 7.1- x 1.2-inches. The built-in Ion GPU means that this bugger is completely capable of handling 1080p (and thus, Blu-ray) content, DirectX 10 and even mildly demanding games such as Call of Duty 4 and Spore. Acer's staying mum on a price and release date, but we're still hearing that the late Q2 time frame is a safe bet. Check the full release just past the break.

I’d have to see that to believe it.
Guess they do exist:

Buffalo announces worlds first external Blu-ray player

The MediaStation Blu-ray HD DVD drive is the markets first external Blu-ray and HD DVD player that allows you to read and write Blu-ray content, which means you can save HD content, and connect the device via USB to your computer and view the content. When you are not doing that it will work for regular playback of HD DVD content.
I don't (yet) have a HD camera ... just got an HDTV. Upconverted DVDs look great.
Nice to know it's on its way, though.
The ATX form factor is on it’s way out the door, folks. I first made that prediction when I read about the netbooks here on fR. Now these new nettops seem to validate that prediction. No more platter type harddisks. No more optical drives. Pretty soon there won’t be any keyboards or a mouse either. They’ll all be like enlarged i-phones with touch screens that can display a keyboard if you really want one.
Next step: no more flat panel displays...holographic only with eyeball tracking for a pointing device
Steep is right....yikes...Newegg doesn’t show this one.
Do you know anything about cAos?
*Pretty soon there wont be any keyboards or a mouse either*
Well we can tell you don’t use your computer for much - other wise you would not have been able to say that statement with a straight face.
UGH!
Spreadsheets and word processors. What else is there? besides internet and email that is.
It hasn’t been released yet ... that was the predicted retail price listed in your link. Street price will likely be lower, but still very steep. Give it a year.
Programming, witting, web development, graphics, art, games andd science. Anything that requires inputting large amounts of data.
Maybe you need to re read my post. Then you need think about how a touch screen works as good as a mouse...and how a keyboard displayed on a touchscreen is as good as a keyboard for 90% of things.
For everything that a laptop is good enough for, a very large i-phone like computer would also be good enough for.
A keyboard on a touchscreen doesn’t have any tactile feedback.
Gee, when I first heard about this, it was only supposed to be “a couple hundred” dollars!
Price is not available yet...as far as I know.
