What made the African Americans think that he would not throw them under the bus, after all they are Americans too.
“”odd that a church pot luck would have people smoking and using racial language””
AMEN!!
THey probably call himt that and the HNIC and more all the time.,
Yeah, I find churches to be rather segregated here, but either can go to the others’ churches and be welcomed as a brother in Christ.
No, it isn’t. Pretty run of the mill.
Wadda ya wanna bet he comes up with a special 10 percent tax on cash balances, IOW those who shy away from the stock market and let their cash reserves build up instead of risking any money at this time.
It's in Nebraska. they don't have a lot of the nazi laws that other places have. Also a good portion of people there are Afro American.”
Yeah, it really is possible though. The one place in Nebraska that this could occur would be in Omaha. Lincoln? Not so much.
Any place else in Nebraska. Not a chance. Nobody in Nebraska votes Dem, unless they ain't from around there. Clinton made it to Nebraska once, after eight years in office. The headline in one of the local papers was, “Who Invited Him?”.
It's just that kind of a state. Way better than Iowa. Thank God for the Missouri river.
Lexington Nebraska Im told is majority hispanic but that many of them are conservative.
If every company would require all employees to take a basic course on government and economics (could be given through the company) to re-educate their employees, and help them make the connection between government policies and workers having jobs, maybe we could open some eyes. People who have gone through gov’mt schools the last 20 years or so just don’t have a clue how things work. This is about the only place where dumbed down voters have a chance of being enlightened.
It would definitely be worth the investment to the companies to do this, I think. Maybe offer some incentive for people to take the classes. You could require all employees to go through “The 5000 Year Leap” & some basic course on economics/business, for example. Just so they could understand simple things like, if taxes are raised, it affects our company’s bottom line, if we can’t make a profit we are forced to either lay off some people - it might be you - or we will possibly go under and you’ll be out of a job either way. Hopefully the labor unions at GM and Chrysler are getting a clue about this right now.
If employers did this across the country I think it might potentially make a significant difference.
“Outta my way, Pres__ent Near!”
Malcolm X was born in Omaha.
Malcom X being born in Omaha does not make the majority of the state have a heavy black population. However what do I know- I have only lived here all but twelve years of my entire life. And before you blast me for being racist- be aware four of my cherished grandkids are black.
I wasn’t trying to make any statement about Nebraska as a whole—according to the census about 4% or so of the population is black (about one-third the national average), but the fact that Malcolm X was born in Omaha shows there was at least a small black community there as of 1925. (Of course his family later moved to Michigan—just like Gerald Ford’s family did...Ford was also born in Omaha).
I’ve often thought it was terrible that Obama is our first black president. Who knows how far it may push back race relations.
In my way of thinking 4% of so does not constitute very many people. After my daughter-in-law died the biggest reason my son did not move back to Nebraska was because he did not want to put the kids into an environment where they would be almost 100% on their own, at least not until they get a bit older. Where they live currently, there are not alot of blacks, but enough the kids fit nicely. BTW when these kids were coming into our family (in rapid succession but one at a time) someone asked if we would tell them they are adopted. The response was simply we did not think any one would have to tell them.
This will actually set back more than just race relations. It could destroy the civil rights movement. All the better we need to kick him out of office in 2012 and replace him with Alan Keyes and/or Sarah Palin. Maybe Bob Barr.
If leftists even allow elections to occur in ‘12, that is.
