I thought so but didn’t see it anywhwere until I read the actual story and then it said in the headline Castle Rock, CO. How horrible for that little dog. I hope it went into shock immediately and therefore didn’t realize what was happening. Was going to take our dog there cause she nees a bath...nevermind...I’m gonna wahs her right at home tomorrow in the nice warm sunshine then to the Vet to have her nails clipped. how sad they must feel to have dropped their little one off to be groomed and then they lose her. The owner is responsible for this no doubt.

They are brave little guys and gals aren’t they? Ours did the same thing years ago only after a German Shepherd who proceeded to bite ours in the butt. A few stitches later and some Olive oil in the water do help him along and he was back to his old tricks. They are the bravest dogs I have ever seen. Unafraid of anything. Long after we had to say good bye to him.. we STILL answered the door with our leg out as we used to to keep him from going out the door.

Well, if Pet Smart’s policy is to allow dogs who are strangers mill around, unrestrained, they ought to change the policy. Even worse is a “manager” who brings her own pet to throw into the mix.

My vile ex-coworker (the one who ate Cheerios all day long) had a gorgeous Golden whom she brought to work once a week. That dog loved me so much that he got all excited whenever it was time for him to see me. He used to run right up to my desk for a belly rub as soon as he was in the door.

That's just a Golden's nature. I call them promiscuous dogs. They always make a big fuss over the newest person in the room, and if that person responds they'll be pestered unmercifully for the rest of the visit.

I am the attorney for the family that lost the yorkie. The dog which attacked was not a pit bull, but an American Bulldog/Masitff mix.

However, the issue is not the type of dog, it is the owner. This issue is very much like the gun control issues. Blame the owner, not the gun.

Welcome to FR,Jay,,,

No gun ever killed anything by itself,,,

It won't chase anything down and Kill it,,,

But you should know that,,,

It is the “breed” if you want to call them that,,,

Just a “mutt” IMHO,,,

I'm pushing for a local ban on these “Bully Breeds” as

was passed in DeQueen,Ark. a while back,,,

FWIW: I have a pit-puppy-mill-crack-house next door,,,and,,,

I am a yorkie owner,,,

I open-carry in my back-yard just to take him out to pee...

I agree, owners and handlers are 100% responsible for actions what their dogs carry out.
I bid your clients good luck in their actions against the owners of the dog that killed the Yorkie.

I feel the analogy between guns and dogs is not a perfect one though, with guns being an inert object that has no self control, the user is completely and utterly responsible for any damage the gun might create, but with dogs of course, there are the variable of the dogs psyche.

I feel the only balance against the dogs psyche is owner and handler control, and dog training.
IMO, with all dogs, but especially with powerful breeds, owners and handlers should need to prove they're capable of disciplining, handling and managing them, this case is tragic for the Yorkie and it's owners, but that Yorkie could have easily been someone's toddler.

My Sister and Brother in law breed dogs (lurchers), which are terrier and sighthound cross-breeds for very fast hunting (I have one, and I also have a Patterdale cross terrier), a picture of Sire (Ben, right), Dam (Holly, centre) and Son (my dog, Dave, left) is below.

The Lurchers are exceptionally fast and agile, but not overly powerful, but have acute instincts to hunt and kill, and can have quick personalities, especially when the pack mentality kicks in.
I have a philosophy that all dogs can be handled perfectly, but not everyone can handle all dogs.
I know any dog, but especially terriers have the capacity to kill at will, and handlers must always have that in the back of their minds, it only takes a couple of seconds and devastation can occur.

Our Government tried to outlaw powerful terriers with 'The Dangerous Dogs Act' here in the UK, which was a complete and utter shambles, they sat behind their desks in London and decided between their uninformed selves how this legislation would be enforced and structured, needless to say it failed, trying to apply the law to a 'Breed of Dog' is ridiculous, with judges trying to decide "is that a pitbull or a staffordshire bull" etc, it was bound to fail.

The onus should be on handlers and owners to prove they can manage a dog, irrspective of breed, as one death of a child is too many.

Yep. Use of the logical fallacy of false analogy is very unbecoming of any lawyer. Lawyers tend to avoid discussing their clients' cases with the general public, and proper ones do avoid showing bias against their clients' interests.

...probably a troll, and by the arguments presented, obviously yet another pit bull advocate.
