“The question is, How many contemporary philosophers take it upon themselves to promulgate scientific propositions?
And why is the discussion limited to contemporary philosophers? There are none of note.”
The reason I limited it to “contemporary philosophers”, was to separate the question from philophers such as Plato, Aristotle and Empedocles who really did promulgate scientific propositions.
(My chidren, who are in a charter school were all prepared when their teacher asked them to name the four classic elements. “African elements, Asian elements. circus elements and parade elements”. They have developed something of a “reputation”.)
I would agree with you that there are no contemporary philosophers of note, which is why I worded it the way I did.
Origins of Time, The Ancients, and Future Civilizations.
