Circuit board manufacturing company Corvalent Corp. has completed its relocation from Silicon Valley to Silicon Hills.
Corvalent, previously based in San Jose, Calif., has opened its new 24,000-square-foot headquarters in Cedar Park. The 16-year-old company announced its plans to move to Central Texas last year after selecting Cedar Park from a field of four prospective cities.
According to Corvalent, about 20 people are moving with the company to the area. Corvalent plans to fill another 30 jobs within the next two years.
Central Texas provides some of the best fundamentals for conducting business in the United States, offering one of the highest quality and most capable technical work force expertise in the country, said president and CEO Ed Trevis. After looking at housing, the cost of living, and taxes, we knew this would be a great match for Corvalents aggressive growth plans. We wanted to move into a growing area and Cedar Park is a very fast growing community.
In July 2008 Cedar Park's City Council unanimously approved a $402,500 incentive package to lure Corvalent. The performance-based agreement says the city will pay approximately $130,000 annually for three years from the half-cent portion of the sales tax that goes toward economic development. In turn, Corvalent must create 45 jobs over three years.
Corvalent designs and manufactures long-life, PC-based circuit boards and motherboards, as well as systems for embedded and industrial applications.
Cedar Park has a BLVD and Elementary School named after Ronald Reagan. It has another Elementary School named after Laura Bush. The public schools here are better than the private ones from where I am originally from (Louisiana).
Cedar Park has no local chapter of the NAACP or La RAZA. I proudly call Cedar Park my home and welcome the new Texans here. These new Texans need to learn why their company moved in the first place if they are not aware of it already. Having this knowledge should be a big factor in how they vote. That's the hope anyway.
This may be of interest to other Central Texans.
I would happily send California an update of all the tax money this company pays, money that now goes to Texas rather than the cesspool of corruption that is the Peoples Republic of California.
I have friends in Austin area...some recently lost their jobs, and I hope they might get something going with this new company...
...may be of interest to Californians
The unemployment rate here in Central Texas, from what I heard lately is about 5.5%
Any news of companies and people fleeing the DPRK is news all Americans should be aware of.
Thanks. Centex jobs ping.
AnnaZ can attest to her newfound “homeland”..... ;^)
Why does this sound like an ad for a plastic surgeon to me?!? ;-P
Good news.
Good for her! I may get the daughter to look into this too.
Well, it won’t mean traffic will be too much worse - yet. Wait to see how large it gets.
my industry contacts tell me that we are about to witness a stampede of high-tech companies fleeing Cal-eee-fohr-nya.
In our local paper, the story about Corvalent’s move here quoted an exec proudly stating the better standard of living, homes and schools that their transfered Cali employees will enjoy here.
Or taking up a whole ‘nuther profession (I did).
You have the best tag line ever!
Why thank you.
Hey Leggy,
Mr. Legs should check out this company to work for.
