Los Angeles, CA (BANG) - Cher's daughter is having a sex change. Chastity Bono - the 40-year-old daughter of the "Believe" singer and her late husband Sonny - began the lengthy gender reassignment process earlier this year.
She has asked family and friends to call her Chaz, and will have surgery to give her male genitals later this year.
Her spokesman said: "Chaz has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity. He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by loved ones."
"It is Chaz's hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue."
Chastity, a writer and reality TV star, came out as a lesbian 20 years ago, when she was just 18 years old.
Since then, she has been a passionate advocate for gay, lesbian and transgender rights.
Cher reportedly cut all ties with her daughter when she revealed her sexuality, saying in a statement at the time: "I'd always had this idea that she would get married and have a family."
They later reconciled and Chastity recently said: "My mother is thrilled that I'm losing weight and getting healthier, but as for her being more proud of me, I don't think there's anything work wise I could do that would make that happen because she is already proud of me."
"What mom cares about most is that I'm happy, healthy and enjoying my life."
This thing hasn’t reproduced has it? If it has not I hope they make sure it never can

I found it so cruel that a woman who built her whole life and career on a slutty image would name her daughter ‘Chastity”. Couple hundred years ago the name would have been acceptable. But in our times it could only have been a burden.
I think Cher was in some horribly cheap and crappy movie of the came name.
The plucked eyebrows and lipstick is a touch confusing on her/him/it.
So she’s going to go from being a fat ugly woman to being a fat ugly man?
Honestly, unless “it” is getting some major liposuction as part of the deal, I don’t see why this qualifies as news.

This road movie features Cher in her first title role. The story, written and produced by her husband Sonny, is the tale of Chastity, a wandering girl who goes hitchhiking across the U.S looking for adventure. She has taken on a new name and the attitude that she will spurn the advances of anyone who wants to give her more than a ride in their car. After fighting off several lecherous lunatics, she takes refuge in a bordello run by Diana Midnight (Barbara London). It turns out Diana has designs on Chastity in hopes she will not live up to her name. Chastity moves in with Eddie (Stephen Whittaker) for a few nights before hitting the road once again.

The girl needs a psychiatrist not a surgeon IMHO. This is really sad.
Just think, tho. Chaz can become a drag queen and dress-up like mommy!
