Last 20 minutes the bid jumped from $25,000 to $78,000. Looks like one of the bidders is a big time car collector.

I'm sure this person is covering that possibility. I hope that if they really have it, they would take extra measures to protect something that is worth so much by keeping an extra copy. And, the item up for bid is the dissertation about the birth of Obama--with all requisite evidence attached. And, for the exchange, this person needs to wear a bullet-proof vest and have lots of protection. I am more concerned that the 'buyer' is not a legitimate bidder. It could be anyone...(think troll) trying to stop this from happening.

National Enquirer has completely blacked out the eligibility story—uncharacteristically...and the salacious Larry Sinclair story with crack cocaine purchase and use by Obama as late as 1999 ( while he was a state senator).
So not expecting them to jump on this.
( they have let the lesser ‘Globe’ do the work.....it is a tabloid in the same publishing company I think...so they are sneaking these things out but not within the pages of the Enquirer—which has worked to establish more “credible” muckraking rep...ie, John Edwards etc. ) I figure when this eligibility story finally hits the pages of the Enqjuirer, all hell is ready to break loose.

Hmm, if by some slim chance it is authentic....wouldn’t a person smart enough to find it...be smart enough to buy more than one?
It’s just another way to gouge ebay’s buyers.
You can no longer look up another bidder’s history to gauge what he/she is willing to pay for an item so you generally wind up over bidding on an identical something someone else may be auctioning to “cheaper” bidders.
But it’s “for our own good”.
