I'll start. I lost my job as a controls engineer when the factory I worked at cut production by about 70%. Luckily I had another job within a couple of weeks.
Date of loss: 3/31/09
New job: 4/27/09
My wife was recently “downsized” because of the “tough” business cycle.
I haven’t worked in 10 years because of the Obama Resession.
I am okay but I know people who are unemployed because of the O Depression including someone who foolishly voted for the Hussein. I avoid that person as much as possible.
I feel for you, but this train wreck has been coming for years. It would have happened regardless of who was in the White House.
Obama has exacerbated the problem at every turn, but he still doesn’t own it. Not yet, at least. Passage of Cap and Trade will seal the deal and put the whole mess right into his lap.
I went through my own severe dislocation due to this nightmare last year. Had to shut down my business, after twelve years, ten of which were highly successful. It really took a lot out of me. I’m now working for a former customer, at a greatly reduced level of compensation. But, given the realities of the situation, I’m grateful.
Troll watch.
A group of friends (and their crews) who are in home construction don't have any new jobs.

I know people who have been out of work for 18 months or more. Who knew Obama’s actions went back that far?
sw
I just refuse to let Obama get his way!
It's synonymous with a a recession. ; )
Come to my town. I’ll take you on a tour.
Lots of “no work” in construction.
I’ve lost half of my staff.
sw
I too have lost my job, the whole construction industry has hit dire straits and the leftist marxist politicians are doing everything wrong to fix the existing problems.
I used to work at Electrolux Home Products laundry facility. I got out while I could just over two years ago. At the time, I seem to recall there being about 1800 to 2000 working at this factory. Today, after moving a significant amount of production to Mexico, there are only about 800 left. Of those left, I’ve heard that they generally believe it’s just a matter of time before the plant closes. One told me all they are building are the older, obsolete models.
Oh, and they have the UAW in as the union. Most probably voted for Obama. If you’re looking for a inexpensive house, there will soon be PLENTY to be found here. :-(
Our Builder friend is asking everyone he knows if they need their homes painted or plumbing fixed, etc. He's trying so hard to keep his crew working.

Date of loss: January 30
New job: May 19
Count me in. I worked for a small cluster of radio stations in Albany NY, privately owned. Mr. M also owns car dealerships and hotels. Poor bastard.
My job was in traffic and continuity - scheduling ads and making sure they ran correctly; also editing sales contracts and helping the sales staff, and other assorted things. Group of 3.
Lost job on March 12, downsized department due to severe lack of advertising, directly related to the bad economy that Zero has imposed on us. Tell me I’m wrong.
No new job yet, but ok with the grace of God and DH’s blessedly continued employment. This area is a tough job market in the best of times. 20 odd colleges pouring out new grads that I can’t compete against. Also, took care of my family instead of a career, so at 40-something closer to 50, I’m trying to weigh options and look for opportunities.
God bless you all in the same port. And thanks for the chance to vent. :)
Well, I sell health insurance for a living. What does that tell you...
