The ACLU is doing this??? Is today April 1st?
To: SteveJDM
Probably their token defense of Christianity to try and shut up everyone who says the American Commie Lawyers Union is anti-Christian.

Stunning....and I’m not even talking about the ACLU.

The ACLU is okay with Christians when they are behind bars.

Can we not rehash the same tired crap about the ACLU?
The behavior of prison officials is the really interesting and appalling thing here. What kind of process do you think leads to an administrative decision to cut out all religious passages from personal correspondence?

Laying the groundwork for hollowed-out Korans.

Can we not rehash the same tired crap about the ACLU?I agree that I want to know why this is even an issue to begin with but it is rare that the ACLU defends Christians or conservative positions.

The ACLU doesn’t appear to favor any particular religion or political position. They are remarkably consistent in their focus on civil liberties.

"We fully expect that the jail will realize this is unconstitutional," he said. Actually it's not. Just as one loses ones right to liberty, that is freedom of movement, and the right to keep and bear arms, one can lose one's first amendment rights while in prison.
I'd like to see a reason this was (allegedly) done. Were coded messages being sent in via bible passages to members of the Nation of Islam or various Aryan Resistance (Skinhead) type groups? Is this done to all inmates mail, or just a few of them? The story is mighty short on details.
