Study: Ugly Men More Fertile, Produce More Sperm During Sex

Women wanting to get pregnant should find themselves an ugly man, new research suggests.

Scientists have found attractive males produce less sperm during sex.

Researchers think good-looking males are biologically geared to hold back their sperm in each encounter to increase their chance of impregnating more females.

But unattractive males know they are not going to bed so many females — so when they do get lucky they give it all they've got.

Reminds me of the old song that goes the other way: “If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life... never make a pretty woman your wife...”

If you wanna be happy after your first date
Never make a handsome man your mate
Go for my personal point of view
Get an ugly man to marry you

Gal 1: say lady
Gal 2: hey lady
Gal 1: I saw your husband the other day
Gal 2: Yeah
Gal 1: Yeah and he's ugly
Gal 2: Yeah he's ugly but he sure churns out the sperm
Gal 1: Yeah

Study finds: Stupid scientists produce more useless research while wasting large amounts of money.

“Mating success” is different than “Ugly”.

As someone else noted, Mick Jagger is ugly but he is able to get around constraints imposed by nature through material means.

There are all manner of studies showing the correlation between mating success and "beauty marks" such as plumage or colors, across numerous species

My wife must love me for my brains. I don't even have plumage.

They need to follow that up with a study on ugly guys that have a lot of money.

You know they're still getting more tail than a toilet seat.

well, kinda. there are certain physical attributes that are accepted by science as "attractive."

the biggest one is symmetry. both sides of the face are the same. the next is proportion, alignment, good hip ratios, etc... if an individual has these attributes, they are more likely to be what we call "attractive."

Oh, really? That's not even true among humans.

That's not even true among humans.

How can you look at "success" of such a subjective thing?

Not to mention so many confounding variables, such as income, wealth, status in society.

The simple explanations proposed by science are rarely so simple.

After a certain number, enough sperm is enough - unless there is competition.

My theory is that there are more and better quality sperm when there is likely to be sperm competition - when the man is ugly, the woman is attractive, or there is a new relationship, and the fastest, most numerous team has the best chance of winning.

There are some weird things that happen. For instance, at least one study showed that later-order births within a relationship tend to produce smaller children, as if the man somehow adjusts baby size to make it easier on the woman when she is a long-term investment.

You said concepts of beauty are a HUMAN thing ... and now you're saying that's not even so?

Be that as it may, there are numerous scientific studies showing a strong causitive relationship between certain physical characteristics and the ability to attract mates. (A Google search returns a large number of hits on the correlation. Just picking a paper at random, even certain species of flies show correlation between physical traits and mating success.)

This shows that "attractiveness" is a pretty objective matter in nature.

Either that, or both male and female become increasingly tired as the number of offspring increases.... And because childbirth and child rearing is hard on a woman, I would suggest that baby size is governed more by her physiology, than by anything the man's sperm can do.
