Walter Cronkite -- And That's the Way It Is Posted Jul 17th 2009 8:18PM by TMZ Staff

Legendary CBS broadcast journalist Walter Cronkite has died.

Cronkite was known as "the most trusted man in America" -- legendary for delivering the news of President John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963 and the lunar landing in 1969.

Three weeks ago Cronkite's family revealed he had been suffering for years with cerebrovascular disease and was not expected to recuperate.

Cronkite was the anchor of the CBS network news from 1962 to 1981. He was known for signing off by saying, "And that's the way it is."

Cronkite died at home in New York at 7:42 PM -- he was 92

So who's the best anchor? They're ALL Ted Baxters and worse. Wish we could vote for Ted Baxter!

The faces who read the news. The only anchor I ever trusted was Brit.

They should be more specific. “Best” for who? Americans or the NVA and Viet Cong?

He was a disgusting scumbag Rat who started the tradition of pretending to be a :trusted unbiased newsman: when the reality was far different.

My vote goes to Paul Revere. He gave the Americans the most important news, when they needed it the most!

I don’t trust any of them. They all pick low hanging fruit if it thinks it will get them $$$s/ratings. And, they (probably, under the direction of their bosses) will abandon the truth if it becomes unpopular!
