Deputies say a Cumming woman was concerned enough to take her sick pet to the veterinarian, but left her 22-month-old son alone in a hot SUV.
Dawn Myers, 38, was arrested on charges of cruelty to children.
Deputies were called to a Cumming vet’s office on Thursday for a report of a child unattended inside a Ford Expedition, said Capt. Frank Huggins, spokesman for the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
“The child was in the car for 30-40 minutes,” Huggins said. “The engine was not running and the windows were rolled up.”
Myers took her two other children inside the vet’s office, but left the baby alone in his car seat, Huggins said.
Paramedics rescued the baby and transported him to Northside Hospital-Forsyth. He was treated and released to relatives, Huggins said.
Deputies said the temperature in the Expedition was around 90 degrees.

This is what happens when children are made equal with pets.
And don't give me that "oh he was in the back seat" bit. So was at least one of the other kids and she didn't forget them

Obviously, this is what happens when children are less equal than pets.
What I would like to know, is who is it that would call the cops, but not go around and find the owner of the car? It would be alot faster, I mean who else knew the child was in the car for 30 minutes but the person who called the cops.

I would have called 911, informed them of the situation, and told them I was smashing a window to save the child. (Yes, I would rest easy in jail for vandalism/destruction of private property/etc. to save a child)

I can only think that the person who finally did call, knew how long the child was in there, and waited those 30 minutes THEN they called.

So instead of calling 911, you would have someone go searching for the scumbag not knowing where she was or how long the child had been in the car?
Call 911 and tell them it is an emergency makes perfect sense. They can be there in a few minutes which it would take a lot longer to find the scumbag.

Ahhh...maybe the police interviewed the staff at the Vet’s office (maybe they make pts sign in upon arrival to keep track of wait times). The person who called, I doubt actually waited 30 minutes and then dialed 911.
