This is totally dumb but...
Remember the Chihuahua in all those Taco Bell TV ads?
Well, the dog has died at the age of 15.
And the dog's name kind-of gives a few things away.

Would the ad campaign still have worked if the dog had a woman's voice?

Funeral services will be at a local Taco Bell. Just don’t order anything with “meat” that day.

Maybe the dog was the Lauren Becall of chihuahuadom, and it was a woman’s voice all along.

So does this mean two other animal celebrities will kick the bucket soon?

Spuds MacKenzie was also female.
They always use female dogs.
They train better, and there is no unsightly junk dangling on the TV screen.

Almost all dogs shown on TV ads are female. It has something to do with that little fleshy piece that dangles for all to see, that the advertisers would rather not.

Seen several charts and the seven years for every human year is not true. In high school they gave us a chart that was a curve and had initially seven to one but the older a dog got it eventually became one to one. Here's a newer one.

I couldn't believe Toxic Smell could be connected to long life in any way, so I did a little digging and found the 7 years rule of thumb is a myth. This dog->human age calculator shows the dog was only 76 years old.

Our family's recently deceased mutt was 17 years old, which equates to 100 years by this calculator.

Where and when is the candle light vigil going to be held? I’d like to stop by, light my candle, pay my respects, get my face on the news and dump off a teddybear or something to add to all the other trash that will have to be picked up a couple days later after it rains.........

The dog's voice was done by Carlos Alazraqui who is best known for playing Deputy James Garcia on “Reno 911.”

I have heard the 7 year rule is a myth as well, however how can you really know what the human equivalent is? Anyway, Taco Bell is one of those things that taste a lot better than it looks or smells.

Plus female dogs don’t mark their territory everywhere.

Talk about damning with faint praise .... when someone is best known for a role in Reno 911 (which I find sometimes hilarious)

“unsightly junk”
Speaking as a male, I don’t consider any part of my anatomy “unsightly junk”, particularly the part you refer to. I can’t speak for the canine world, but I would bet a male dog doesn’t consider it junk either. Try to remove any male creatures “junk” and you will find out how much we treasure it.-—JM
Actually - I am being a smart a—. When I read it I couldn’t stop laughing.-—Thanks

Small dogs tend to live longer. Some of the big breeds like Mastiffs and Great Danes have a life expectancy less than 10 years. :(
