The more well-meaning a liberal is, the more fascist/totalitarian/Stalinist they are.
I agree with you.
The more well-meaning a liberal is, the more fascist/totalitarian/Stalinist they are.
I think this is a thought provoking question and commentary by Mr. Lewis. Thank you for your comments.
I guess the reason I posted the article was because I was thinking of the vitriol orchestrated and demonstrated during the Bush years, and the false accusations being hurled at citizens who are opposed to this administration’s health proposals.
And, how we have moved incrementally farther and farther to the left in both the Democratic and Republican Parties, over the years, until extreme leftists now control the Dem Party - not to mention those un-elected staffers, and appointees who may very well be Stalinists for all we know.
Also, the fact that all of the citizen protestors opposing this are not Conservatives and Republicans, and that there are a growing number of Democrats and Independents opposing this nationalized health plan indicates that not everyone who considers himself to be liberal would support extreme policies.
We can disagree and argue and debate policy with freedom loving people, but, of course, we must unite to defeat those who would use government power to control us and take away our freedom to voice our opinions and affect government policies.
Totalitarianism is still oppressive regardless of the benevolence of the dictator. The possibility is always there to wield that power in destructive ways. History shows that has more often than not been the result at some point. Those people who think they want government to take care of them need to learn a bit of the history of totalitarianism and think about that.
