She declined saying she was going to be going to Hawaii.
The surprised reporter said: "Hawaii? How are you going to Hawaii?"
The 'homeless' persons reply was classic:
"Well, I'm flying. How else do you get to Hawaii?"
A couple of wks ago I was coming out of a Food Maxx (grocery stoe) here in California. A man approached me and asked me for Money to eat. I said if you are truly hungry we will go inside and buy some bread, bologna, and chips for you.
He just looked at me and walked off to ask someone else for money. lol
I took those pictures in a reserve when I was in Savannah, GA for work.
It gave me a new perspective on life. ; )
I won the stare off!
Heck I would have run so fast:)
Why?
They won't hurt you and if they do get goofy, just shoot to kill.
It's a right of self preservation stated in the Constitution. : - D
I was unarmed at the time however...
I teach my son to give to charity, but I never give to the pan handlers on street corners. My son always asks me why and I have a hard time explaining it a six year old. I told him basically that I give to “legitimate” charities. I know Christ said that we should give to all who ask, but I’d be curious to hear what Jesus would say about this type of situation.
The first beggar asks him how he does it and the second beggar says, "show me your sign". The guy holds up his sign and it says, "Please help, have wife and children to feed!". The second guy says, "See. that is your problem, look at my sign". He holds up his sign and it says, "Pay me 10 dollars and I will go home to Mexico!".
Ok, call me racist but that there is funny, I don't care who you are!
I have been approached too at my Food Maxx. Recently it was a kid on a skateboard. He looked very healthy and fit... made me kind of sick.
I can see several problems with that sign right off the git go, but on the other hand it might work on liberals!
Its better than welfare. Its voluntary giving. welfare money is not..
Up here in Albany a few years ago, there was a man who stood on a meridian at the entrance/exit to a strip mall holding a sign: Will Work for Food. It was just before Christmas and bitter cold. Drivers would toss money his way. Then on day, a sympathetic passerby stopped and offered him a real job where he could earn the money for his food. He turned down the offer.
Begging is a livelihood that has been with us since man first walked the earth.

Putting money in the new neon yellow meters popping up all over downtown won’t keep tickets off your windshield, but supporters say it could help cut down on aggressive panhandling

I’ll wait for a follow up to see if it works, but I wouldnt hold my breathe
No problem- It’s the free market at work. Enterprise, ingenuity, and success.
Is it work? In a way. This guy is providing a “service” by making people feel better about themselves by giving to the homeless. Think of it as a form of spiritual entertainment. That being said, there are easier and more dignified ways to earn $50K a year.
50K.
Tax free.
That's one way to 'go Galt.' Which might make it quite respectable. Starve the beast!
