Do ELF terrorists read political books?

Posted on 09/06/2009 5:50:46 AM PDT by Halfmanhalfamazing

When I heard about the ELF group's latest acts of terrorism immediately the first question that popped into my head was "well what kinds of books do they read?"...... little did I know how brilliant that really was.

For those around me who may have forgotten, Jim David Adkisson who shot up the Tennessee Unitarian Church also read books from O'Reilly and a few others, and when the drive by media found out this fact they proceeded to morph the discussion of despicable acts into one of their usual political rallies against their enemies in talk radio. The shooting itself became back stage sideshow stuff. All that mattered now to reporters was attacking talk radio, who cares if people died?

So Ok. Whenever someone who may be politically aware, motivated, or directly activist does something, the liberal media wants to use political readings to it's advantage?

Let's see the media do back flips in order to find out what it is that ELF is reading before they went out and ravaged, how about that one?

Edward Abbey’s Monkey Wrench Gang kicked off the modern eco-sabotage movement. They probably also read Singer, and of course anything about deep ecology.

I hope Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh have 24-hour armed security around them because we may soon reach the point that an attempt on their lives could happen.

Hang on a sec, you are giving these idiots way too much credit.

How do you know they can read.

I worked with a guy years ago who was strange but brilliant. He turned me on to Theroux’s (sp?) travel books, but he was also into Shroedinger’s Cat and similar things.

One of the books he sent me was a novel about eco-terrorists who burned bridges and destroyed things. The terrorists were the protagonists. This was 1990. The current ELF people are without doubt followers of a movement created by these books.

Did that book end by them being captured and sent out into the wild? If so my son read that book for a book report in HS.

I don’t remember, but the book was about destroying bridges and houses in defense of the environment it was set in the southwestern USA.

Thank you so much for telling me about that. I’ve never heard of that book before.(MWG)

Seems like shades of Herbert Croly and Saul Alinsky to me.

Admittedly, my question was totally rhetorically based. No liberal media outlet that I’m aware of would care to investigate what books anybody reads unless they thought they could use it to their advantage.

Beck has stated on the air that he has security.

Dunno if they’re armed though. Probably.

The first poster(post 2) mentioned a book - Edward Abbey’s Monkey Wrench Gang - perhaps that’s the one?
