Obama Drops Iffy Line On Health Plan

Parts of his speech repeat some of his oversimplified claims

WASHINGTON - The change was subtle, but significant.

In his speech to Congress on Wednesday night, President Barack Obama gave a more accurate — and less reassuring — account of the impact of his proposed health care overall than he has done in the past.

It went by in a blink.

He told Americans that nothing he is proposing will force businesses or consumers to change their existing insurance coverage. That much is true.

It's also true that nothing in his plan guarantees that policies people have now will continue to be available in the same form. In earlier accounts, he spoke with unmerited certainty in saying people who are happy with their current insurance can simply keep it.

Other parts of his speech repeated some of the oversimplified claims that have marked his salesmanship. A look at some of his assertions Wednesday night:

OBAMA: "Nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have. Let me repeat this: Nothing in our plan requires you to change what you have."

THE FACTS: That's correct, as far as it goes. But neither can the plan guarantee that people can keep their current coverage. Employers sponsor coverage for most families, and they'd be free to change their health plans in ways that workers may not like, or drop insurance altogether. The Congressional Budget Office analyzed the health care bill written by House Democrats and said that by 2016 some 3 million people who now have employer-based care would lose it because their employers would decide to stop offering it.

In the past Obama made repeated statements such as, "If you like your health care plan, you'll.....

Obama the marxist says he is going to save enough from one huge, inefficient, wasteful government program, Medicare, to pay for an even larger (eventually) also sure to be enefficient wasteful government program, Obamacare.

DOES ANYONE BELIEVE THAT BRAVO SIERRA?

Can you possibly trust or believe after the stimulus, bail-out, and Cash for Clunkers fiascos that this is what will happen?

No.

Read the bill the Democrats put forward. it is a HUGE government bureaucracy.

...and, it will lead to government officials deciding the standards for who gets coverage when...basically, for older Americans, it will amount to death panels.

Bears repeating. He can't tell the truth about the plan because its just a socialist power grab.

Well, This is what Obamas own Health Care Czar Ezekiel Emmanuel said last year in Health Affairs Journal On the Subject Of Cutting waste “Vague Promises of savings from cutting waste ,enhancing prevention and wellness ,installing electronic medical records and improving quality are merely lipstick cost controls, more for show and public relations than for true change”. For more info on The Health care Czar Emmanuel read his articles ,here are 3,
“What are the Potential Cost savings from legalizing Physician-assisted suicide?”, “Choosing the time to Die:The Ethics and Economics of Suicide in Old Age”and the favorite,”Age Rationing and the Just Distribution of Health Care:Is there a Duty to Die?”

He took out the illegal aliens?

Or just the fact that the great zero was thinking of the issue caused 16 million to acquire insurance.

The numbers are pretty much plucked from thin air anyway.

This whole anti-Constitutional scam is a huge POWER GRAB by the socialists. It has little to do with health, as witnessed by the ‘end of life’ counseling and prospect of rationed services resulting from reduced service payment levels and broadened coverage base. It has EVERYTHING to do with CONTROL of the lives of formerly free Americans, from the cradle (and before) to the grave (and after).

Stop this insanity. It’s time to push the government back within the confines of their Constitutional authority and obligations. Elections have consequences.

Carl Rove was on O’Reilly afterwards and he said that on Obama’s website it says there will be $622 Billion cuts in Medicare.

But in his speech tonight he said he wasn't going to make cuts in Medicare.

O’Reilly appeared to think that these “cuts” were the elimination of waste, fraud, and abuse.

O’Reilly appeared to think that these “cuts” were the elimination of waste, fraud, and abuse. -------------------- Do we need a congressional bill to do that? Seems to me that any administration's duty is to eliminate waste and fraud whether there is legislation or not.

This bogus claim is just gonna be met with the rejoinder “Oh really? Maybe you should have a crack at cleaning up Medicare and then get back to us”
