Silly person, that's not true. The first (and until Obama, last) President to address all American schoolchildren was George H. W. Bush in 1991. Oh, and you might want to check into how you libs reacted to him doing that...you guys pitched a fit that made this brouhaha look like a yawn.

Silly person, people weren't scared because they thought a "stay in school" pep talk was socialism, they were scared because a man who is clearly not who we thought he was when we elected him has been massively expanding government power, treating anyone who disagrees with him like a bunch of Nazi thugs, and then just as his poll numbers are tanking and his agenda bogs down, he wants to talk to every kid in America and puts out a lesson plan asking them to help him.

BTW, the Dept. of Education says that lesson plan thing was a mistake. The government can't produce a simple lesson plan, but you want to give them control of health care. Gee, aren't you a genius. Dr. Darwin will see you now.

You panic that any Health Care reform is going to turn us into a communist hellhole when medicare is as socialist as you can possibly get.

When the President says again and again (and Barney Frank and Congresscritter Shankowsky chime in) that a public option will inevitably lead to single payer health care, and we look at other single payer systems and find that they are hellholes compared to our system, what conclusion are we supposed to come to?

But hey, let's pretend that Obama never said that, and look at the merits. Here's what Michael Barone wrote on Tuesday about Obama's plan, which is actually Nancy Pelosi's plan:

There is an element of convenient fantasy as well in Obama's health care statements to date. We are going to save money by spending money. We are going to solve our fiscal problems with a program that will increase the national debt by $1,000,000,000,000 over a decade. We are going to guarantee you can keep your current insurance with a bill that encourages your employer to stop offering it. The list goes on. We are going to improve health care for seniors by cutting $500,000,000,000 from Medicare. We aren't going to insure illegal aliens, except that we won't have any verification provisions to see that they can't apply and get benefits.

And you see it as "panic" if we're not on board with that. Sure...gotcha.

You don't even seem to have any clear stances of your own, only the stance that anything a non-conservative does or says is automatically evil, even if it's the same freaking thing a conservative would do.

Really? Let's look at that in the context of the laughable president you're defending. A conservative would declare an officer to be a stupid racist while admitting he didn't read the police report of the supposedly "racist" incident? A conservative would use tax dollars to pay for overseas abortions? Fire the CEO of GM? Take over two car companies? Push a cap & trade scheme that will cause electricity rates to "skyrocket" (his words, not mine.)

Too bad you're not around to tell me where taxpayer funded abortion on demand is in the Constitution. Oh, and where are the czars, and the FCC regulation of topics on radio stations?

Whatever the case, you should never be allowed to vote in any election. It takes some understanding of politics to understand that every candidate and his or her supporters agree with and have the courage to ensure that agenda is good for America.

On the off chance you may actually read some of the comments here, I note that you ought to have your facts straight before making idiotic accusations. No, not “every” President has made national speeches to children. When Bush 1 did so, he was attacked by the Democrats, who held Congressional hearings on the matter. And Bush did not include “materials” for the children that asked them to write about what they could do for him, like The One did. Obama didn’t ask our children what they could do for their community, their school, or their country, but for him. The ego and arrogance of that was what angered most of us. No wonder people like you can’t understand the anger in this country.

Oh, put you are right, we are worried that Obamacare will be Medicare for all - Medicare is trillions of dollars in the hole and will be bankrupt long before I am eligible for it. So, no, we don’t think that is a very good model. Nor is the UK or Canada model, where it can take years to get operations. I guess you don’t follow the international news much—didn’t happen to read about thousands of mothers who can’t get into maternity hospitals in time to have their babies. No, that is not quite what we have in mind for the US
