The vivid red-and-blue colouring is almost uncannily like that of the Marvel superhero, and comic book fans have been flocking to exotic pet shops to snap them up.
Agamas like the Spider-Lizard, as it has become known make good pets, as they become tame and docile if handled regularly. However, they require specialist equipment in the UK to maintain their temperature.
It can grow up to a foot long, and the squeamish may find it a problem to feed a balanced diet for an agama includes locusts, crickets, mealworms and waxworms.

Cool looking lizard. I could handle one of those.
Looks like a Bearded Dragon to me.
Cute little bugger.
Spiderman, Spiderman,
Does whatever a spider can
Spins a web, any size,
Catches thieves just like flies
Look Out!
Here comes the Spiderman.
Is he strong?
Listen bud,
He’s got radioactive blood.
Can he swing from a thread
Take a look overhead
Hey, there
There goes the Spiderman.
In the chill of night
At the scene of a crime
Like a streak of light
He arrives just in time.
Spiderman, Spiderman
Friendly neighborhood Spiderman
Wealth and fame
He’s ingnored
Action is his reward.
To him, life is a great big bang up
Whenever there’s a hang up
You’ll find the Spider man.
If they only get to be a foot long they make a far more attractive pet for someone of fairly limited resources. Crickets and mealworms are pretty inexpensive.
The common issue I’ve seen with lizards as pets is a calcium deficiency and that’s easily overcome.
Hmmm. Animals that are conspicuously colored like that are usually poisonous.
It’s very pretty, but, I must say, I have never understood how anyone can actually think of a reptile as a pet.
Alright, who’s the person with the spray paint?
Poisonous lizards are exceptionally rare. Basically the Gila monster is the only lizard with true venom. Komodo dragons are often considered poisonous but its not quite true.
Vividly colored critters are often poisonous but are just as often using vivid color to mimic poisonous ones.
In case you don’t have enough reptiles.
It looks a lot like a bearded dragon. Tom and I are going to a reptile show the weekend after next.
Lizards make me wonder why nobody has ever selectively bred them for size. Like why be satisfied with a 6 foot long iguana, when you could have a 10 foot long iguana?
Limbs bitten by a Komodo dragon often must be amputated, even if modern medical treatment is initiated immediately.
